I love movies! I have a taste for old, boring classic films and thrillers though, courtesy of my parents.

Män som hatar kvinnor (The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo): It's in Swedish, but you can find it with subtitles. This movie is one of my favorites. It's about a do-good Swedish journalist accused of libel, who teams up with a troubled computer hacker to solve a 40-year-old murder mystery.

Time Bandits: This is a bad trailer, but this movie is amazing. A schoolboy gets taken along for a ride through history with six dwarves who have stolen the Map of Space and Time from the Supreme Being himself. By Terry Gilliam.

Brazil: Also by Terry Gilliam- a bizarre 1984-styled film about a man named Sam Lowry in a buffoonish totalitarian world.

Das Boot: German with subtitles. A historically-accurate drama about the ordinary men serving aboard the U-boat U-96 during WWII. It's a sad film, but very beautiful.

Three Days of the Condor: Cold War-era thriller about a CIA agent whose job is to read material, mostly thriller books, to ( ... )

I love films, but because of how strict my parents are, I didn't start watching a lot of them until I was out of the house, pfft. So now people keep saying to me, "What do you mean you've never watched Zoolander?!" (or Breakfast at Tiffany's, or Citizen Kane, or whatever else), so I'm trying to... broaden my horizons a bit beyond just Disney movies, haha.

That first one sounds familiar; I think someone mentioned it to me once. I'll probably be checking all of these out <3 Ahh, this is what summer nights are for!

Waking Ned Devine Off-beat Irish comedy with amazing music.

Dude, I've seen snippets of that fic in the meme WIP threads and I was worried I'd miss it when it actually got posted. You are my hero! I've been stalking it like I've never stalked a fic before.

Sounds fabulous 8D [/puts on the to-watch list]

Haa, yeah, I was so excited when I found they'd finally started posting it. When it's finished I'll mention it in an entry just in case you (or other people) are not tracking it.

I think one of the things I like about it is, aside from the fic itself I mean, is that... it's the kind of fic that I've wanted to write. I started to write my own fic about the Union around this time last year, but it never went anywhere, and if I do want to write it I'll have to start all over. But this one, it's like, it's almost exactly what I wanted to write.

... and it doesn't hurt that the characterization of Norway in this one is almost exactly as I imagine him, right down to the accent. Oh, man.

It's really cute. XD

I don't think I'll lose track of it. I keep it open in a tab at all times and refresh every 5-10 minutes. Obsessive, I know.

Ha, I once entertained the thought of writing 1814 fic, but it would have been comedy, and no one wants that. Well...at least my Norwegian friend wouldn't kill me, but still.

Ah, I could do without the accent, but it's okay as long as I remind myself not to read it with a drawl. 'Cause if I do it just sounds like redneck!Norway. DNW

BUT I LOVE REDNECK NORWAY. Stupid sexy hick Yeahhh, I don't see it as a drawl, more like a roughness... clipped... comparable to east-coast Canadian maybe (at least, that's what I equate it to when I write him with an accent myself)

1814... comedy. I am intrigued. Tell me more.

Oh man Moomins. The Finnish there is... their own kind, really. They speak book language, of course, but with a bit weird word combinations and such. My school has IB class, and because of that I've spoken with Finns that have grown up outlands and their pretty much only contact to Finnish language (aside from parents) has been Moomins. Their Finnish is really adorable :>

Ahh I can't recommend any movies for you I think, just the newer classics (Pan's Labyrinth, Fight Club, Trainspotting, Tarantino's movies). I would like to name a Finnish one for you, but... I can't think of... any good ones. orz

OH. I see. 8D Iiiii never would've known. (Of course)

Haaa, well, this reminds me now that I haven't seen most of those (Fight Club, Trainspotting, etc) so at least I can add those to the list. People keep reacting all WTF when I tell them I haven't seen those ones, but I keep forgetting they exist....
