Newly-discovered miniature artwork suggests Roman soldiers were the inspiration for the legends of King ArthurI'm always a little baffled when people say to me, in all seriousness, "So, when did this King Arthur live?" Then I have to explain to them that no, Arthur wasn't real. The people who inspired the legends about him, though, they were real, ( Read more... )

I'm sorry I've never been well versed in much British history or things of that sort besides Shakespeare and some other literature we passed through. |||OTL

GASP. HOW DARE I. ARTHURIAN LEGENDS WERE INDEED TRUEFAX. I ADMIT IT.

Even Launcelot. Who sprung fully-formed from Chretien's head. Yep, he as truefax too. :B

(Chaucer does not approve of this bullshit.)

Oh Hokuto, my dear, I love you.

and IN MY DEFENSE, I know that such legends are usually embellishments of much less impressive feats of a real person, it's just that I thought there really was a king named Arthur.

And home-baked goodies aaaaahhhhhh
Someone gave me a small piece of maple syrup fudge the other day, I haven't tried it out yet.

I just love the way you write Finland! *__* May have told you that before, but it bears repeating. And yes, you really should write more of it. The atmosphere in that fic was palpable, and if not exactly pleasant, still very well-written.

As for Arthur - does this mean that movie with Kiera Knightly running about half-clad was...f-fiction? MY WHOLE LIFE HAS BEEN A LIIIIIIE! TAT (Interesting article, really - though I'm not entirely sold based on the connection established there. And honestly I think the myths themselves have taken on such diversity and life in the intervening millennium-and-a-half that it's almost better to consider them entirely separate of potential 'historical' origins.)

Aaa, thank you so much. <3 I do think that I will try to expand it over the Christmas break. I have a pretty good idea of the direction I want to take it - I just need to find the time to do t.

And YES. I'm sorry dear. Life is a lie etc etc etc. As for the article, I'm inclined to agree; the connection seems shaky. On the other hand, there's usually a lot more going on than what ends up in internet stuff, so maybe there's something more to it.

Oh, good! I'll keep an eye out to it for sure.

You've crushed all my dreams, I hope you're happy you monster, etc etc :'| There may be more to it, but as you're the one doing midieval studies, you'll probably catch wind of it if it breaks as anything significant in the academic community~
