I actually wrote a House that made me seethe. I am astonished. The "You're becoming outdated" and the "Where's the coffee?" make me want to hit him. Or have Cameron hit him. Either.

Detail can be a double-edged sword. It can add to and enrich the story, or it can be horribly boring and ultimately unnecessary and actually detrimental. I'm glad you think mine is the former.

Remember: you only requested to see what was inside the present. You probably didn't dream that I would write these kinds of circumstances behind it. :)

And thank you for the squee. :) I'm glad you liked it!

Like I told you before, I think your writing gets better and better each fic. Like a fine wine. And yes, I did type that. Stop laughing.

But seriously, it's brilliant.

As always, your strength lies in your attention to detail. To the small things. From the way the gift is wrapped to its initial placement. Everything is so cleverly placed in this story. It's just lovely.

House is just an asshole in this fic. I had to read that passage several times because I couldn't get past the Asshat!House. I wanted her to hit him. Badly. Because dude. He's so not cool. But then again, there's a canon bit to him here. Shades of the evil meth!episode!House.

Love the reiteration of themes. Secrets. Duality. *shakes head* It's just an excellent piece of fiction, man. Well-rounded and finely executed.

Bravo.

Thank you so much, sweetie. That means a lot.

I really like the detail of the present; specifically, I like that it's not pristine. It's symbolic, don't you know. :)

I actually chuckled to myself when I was writing part of this, because the thought came to mind that I was writing House like he had split personalities. It could be a good theory as to the existance of BadWriters!House.

...or, y'know, not.

Heartbreaking. Heartbreakingly perfect. Cameron verbalizes (thought-alizes?) everything I'm thinking about S2 House versus S1 House. And that's why it's heartbreaking, because as lovely a narrative as this is, and as beautifully as you've conveyed what should be the obvious confusion the characters would feel over their personality derailment, it shows how far the writing has drifted from what I used to love about the show. But still, wonderfully written. Enjoy your break from writing!

Oh, and FYI -- on house_cameron, there's no actual link to the story. I'm sure that most people will do what i did and just presume the location of the story and sneak on over to your journal, but just in case...

I agree with you on the writing, but paradoxically I don't think we can blame it all on the writers. "House" was special back when it wasn't popular (in the early episodes); that it became popular was incidental to the writers.

Cut to season two. It's a smash hit. There's demands by the network and the public that have to be filled. I actually find myself wondering if the writers thought that maybe a few episodes WEREN'T good ideas (seriously. Cameron doing crystal meth? That's something you're going to see on the O.C. Not a show with thirty-something doctors).

_vicodin made my icon. She's incredible like that.
