I'm pretty sure that Switzerland was the first one that Austria met/became friends with (kind of like Hungary and Poland?), but whether they were still good friends at that time, I'm not sure.

The only thing I have that really mentions any of that is this link, at the top, but it doesn't really answer the question.

And I really didn't know that about Austria's flag, or the lion! Thanks for sharing!

Btw, I found out some stuff concerning the events directly prior to the Austrian Anschluss. I got interested after finding out that episode 23 of the World Series is (supposed to be) related to that strip... plus with my computer down and only my laptop for company last week, I kind of went on a research spree...

And this time I learned to bookmark them all! XD
