I really need to develop a hobby besides checking myspace/facebook/lj that I can do at night when I'm bored. Any suggestions?

I would but i'm horrible at it. There is that yarn store in Downtown Royal Oak and i'm pretty sure they have classes, you should check it out.

If you're talking out-of-the-house activities... I would say find a local art studio or indie movie theater and expand the arts! Or go to a local record store and browse the artists and buy something you've never heard of and see if you like it (or IM me sometime [Bohemian Taco 86] and I'll send you some great songs!).
