Yukai Tsu-kai Kaibutsu-kun - Lyrics and Translation

The theme song (written in 1980) for the animated version of "Kaibutsu-kun".  Ohno-kun sings it as the insert song for the drama.  It's a cute song, filled with wordplay and onomatopoeia meant to appeal to children.  For those of you completely unfamiliar with the manga/anime/drama, the "powers" being referred to in the song are Kaibutsu-kun's

do you think they will release an OST of kaibutsu kun (cause dont they actually compose soundtracks for every single drama series in japan)? it would be cool if they release a kaibutsu kun soundtrack, with ohno kun's version of that song as one of the tracks >v<

(oh on second thought.... since ohno kun is in arashi and they have their own label too... hmmmm)

Kaibutsu-kun OST being released 5/26/10. I've seen it on Amazon.co.jp, Yesasia and cdjapan. Here's the link for cdjapanow:

Unfortunately, there is absolutely NO information about what's on it. No tracklist, nothing. The only thing written in the desciption is a short blurb about the OST being for Ohno's NTV Saturday drama and the composer being Akio Izutsu.

I'm sure Ohno's version of the song will be on it, though. :)

Thanks for translating! This is such a cute song, and of course Ohno's version is much cuter than the original. I think that the "face erupting" part refers to Kaibutsu-kun's ability to breathe fire. I bet including Ohno's version in the OST would mean sales to rival an Arashi single.

Yep, face erupting = blowing fire! It's comic/unfortunate that we also use "erupting" to refer to zits in English, though. Hehe.

I was poking around amazon.co.jp and the K-kun OST is ranked 2nd in sales for Japanese TV show OSTs. (And 308th place in music overall) Not bad for a product still in pre-order status. And the Maou OST is in 7th place!! Ahh, the power of Ohno. XD XD XD

I've been surfing Japanese sites and blogs using google translate and apparently there seems to be renewed interest in Maou and Uta no Oniisan as those are now unavailable in rental shops. I didn't know they still rented out videos that much in Japan as this has petered down in the US.

I think people are hoping Ohno's Yukai Tsukai solo is included in the OST. If it turns out that indeed it is, I bet the OST enters the Oricon top ten charts. Also, I have high hopes for the Monster single too. Seems like people who aren't usually Johnnys or Arashi fans have become Ohno fans because of Kaibutsu-kun and because they were so impressed by his acting so I hope these new fans start buying Arashi singles and stuff.
