I've been thinking about my love for the Scarlet Pimpernel books, and the way that Takarazuka casting, while giving us great shows, never quite fits with the way I imagine the characters ( Read more... )

I'm wondering about Yuki there - her elder Franz-Josef was quite like that, and she was a versatile enough actress to "disappear" into her role.

Hmmm, sounds possible. *still impressed by her Nakano Ooe*

For me, Kiriyan was the perfect Percy to match Anthony Andrews :) The thing is the fine line between the dandy and the daredevil, and you need someone fantastic to pull that off. Chie was so good as Chauvelin that really, as Percy, I can't imagine her being foppish enough.

Kiriyan was splendid but just a bit softer and more tender than I usually imagine Percy to be...

What about the Percy who kneels down and kisses "every spot on the ground where here little foot had touched" in the first book? :D That's pretty tender too me :) Plus, he kisses her toes when they're all torn up and bloody after she's tried to save him.

Yeah, you are right - I guess in my mind it's in the 'he's different with Marguerite' department...

In my head Percy is always Richard E Grant, I think it'll be hard to dislodge him. I do like Aran's version, but maybe she's also a bit softer than I think of him...

I think Mami would have done a good Percy. As for Chauvelin...I don't think I can think of a sienne who doesn't have obvious charisma in some way. XD

I haven't watched any of the film adaptations - I am too fond of the images in my head (siennes are obviously different ;) )

I've always imagined Toyoko as the perfect Chauvelin look-wise to be the perfect counterpoint to a Chie!Percy. She could look properly put out about Chie's antics and yet still manage to look poised and intimidating.
