I would post my daily positive things, but... Well, it would be a long list because I've neglected to make a "personal" post for a while. Oops, sorry

Funnily enough, most slash everything I write starts by being written by hand. Same with my drawings. I usually fine tune them on the computer, like a final draft. I'm more interested in conserving ideas and first thoughts than in finished products, because finished products tend to find themselves on the internet, so I can find them later, but I know how traumatizing it is to turn on your computer and have more that 4000 photographs disappear, almost all of which were you only and original copies.
There are some times when I first write by hand and others when I first write on computer. It depends on the story. Some of my best work has been purely on computer as I edit as I type. I don't catch everything, of course, but I still do a lot of editing as I write.
4000 photographs? I would be so devastated! Those can't be replicated at all in any form.
I handwrite everything down, too. I would die (again) if I wrote and lost something huge D: I almost lost my entire, 50,000+ NaNoWriMo entry (I blame my roommate, I stepped out of the room and all of the sudden it had some weird error), but thank goodness for external harddrives >.> I really reccomend getting one, even a smaller one just for your word filesPr
That would be horrible to lose a NaNo project! 50,000 words is a lot of work to lose -- I know, I've lost a few long fiction novels I had written that I lost on my last computer.
I've been looking into getting one to go with my flashdrive. Thanks for the suggestion!
Unfortunately, I'm not a college student at the moment. The only college that lists me is as an alum. I'm looking into using the $250 Mac coupon when/if I get into PSU.
I do have a flash drive, and I've still lost everything with it. Apparently, there are some writing programs that are so obsolete that you can't even download them. So, lol, everything was lost because it's on an obsolete program.
Next time this happens (as there will definitely be a next time), I'll be sending it to myself as an email. It's nice, though, to have it as a hard copy -- it gave me something to edit while I was away.
Thanks for updating anyway. I hear you on the computer troubles. I'm getting a new computer (I'll talk about that tonight), but I hope it has Windows 7. Ian has W7, and it's AWESOME. I mean, it takes getting used to, but I think it's better in the long run.
I wish your computer luck. I hope it holds out for you.
I just read all your entries (I'll be commenting on some of them here soon!), and I saw you got your computer complete with Windows 7! So lucky! I miss having a Toshiba, you'll definitely love it as it's a good computer to have.
And it did hold out... for the most part. It still works, lol!
yeah, I've tried to get out of the habit of storing my new writing on my computer for exactly that reason -- they can be awfully unreliable sometimes. and I find there's a greater sense of accomplishment and how much you've written when you keep notebooks full of writing. but I much prefer typing over handwriting sometimes when I have a lot of thoughts or a lot to say, so I can understand why computers are easier to rely on for that.
thanks for the encouragement. I'm glad to have you on my flist and to be on yours! <3
I need to get out of that habit. It's so nice to have a hard copy, knowing that there's still a version of it if something happens to the computer. And it's good for editing, lol! I just edit as I write, so it's easier to use a delete button than scratching out/erasing written words.
Aw, you're welcome! And I'm glad to have you on my flist as well! (I'll be commenting here shortly!)

Why don't you just pick up a flash drive and back all of it on that?
You can even just store them in your e-mail (Just send them as an attachment to yourself).
There's a number of things you can do :)

Depends on the writing program. You can find anything if you tried hard enough.
