Sweet

Ryo was standing in front of a shelf in the living room of his parents' which was where his mother kept every magazine he ever appeared in. He looked with amazement at the shelf. It seemed like he shouldn’t be given any interviews anymore. There was no place for the magazines. He had always told his mother to stop, but it looked like she was his biggest fan.

He randomly grabbed one, but another one fell to the floor. He noticed it looked very old as he picked it up. He smiled as he saw that it was a photo shoot he had with Pi.

They were cooking together and they had so much fun that day that they almost forgot they were in a photo shoot location.

Ryo chuckled as he remembered how the photographer had scolded them for not looking at the camera and only at each other.

Cooking with Pi had been really funny, but he didn't have to be afraid to lose his life; nothing exploded unlike what he had experienced when he cooked with others. Maybe he should ask Pi to cook with him again. It would be a great opportunity to spend time with the latter. They had been so busy he hadn’t seen him in weeks.

As he looked at the old pictures he realized how much he missed him.

Luckily, he would be going back to see Pi and the rest of NEWS again soon. For now, he would enjoy the time with Kanjani8 because he was going to miss them when he's in Tokyo. It's really not easy to be in two groups. You will always miss one of them.

Suddenly, a small hand snatched the magazine he was holding out of his hand.

“Aww, do you miss Tomohisa?” His little sister asked in a teasing voice.

“Hey, stop calling him Tomohisa. Only his mother does that.” Ryo grabbed the magazine and stuffed it back into the shelf.

“Yeah, his mother and you when you are sleeptalking.” His sister scoffed. “By the way, Yoko is here. He came to get you for practice. Hurry up.” Ryo felt like strangling his sister but decided to ignore her or he would be late. He took his bag and walked to Yoko who was talking to his mother.

“Can we go?” He asked.

“Yeah, sure.”

After practice was over and Ryo was back at home, he let himself fall onto his bed. He really would ask Pi to cook with him. He was an even better cook now after his last movie. Ryo grinned, perhaps he could impress Pi with his skills but maybe he would need some good arguments to make him agree. As far as he remembered, Pi was even more busy at the moment.

Well, food was already a good argument. Pi loved food.

He could also say it was healthier to cook yourself and not to eat take out so often.

He furrowed his brows as he tried to come up with another point.

Of course, how could he forgot? It would help deepen their friendship even more too. It was great to try something new from time to time. He ignored that they had already done it once.

The argument that Yamapi needed a break from working all the time was not bad either. He needed new energy so that he could work better. Maybe he should start with that. It was very convincing.

When Ryo realized what he was doing, he slapped his forehead. He was not planning a date for god’s sake! Well, if a girl said no, he wouldn’t try to convince her anyway since he had to much pride for that.

Ryo looked at his clock. It was already late and he had to catch an early train tomorrow. He had better went to sleep now.

Because he was bored on the train, he scribbled all his arguments on a piece of paper so that he wouldn’t forget them when he was in front of Pi.

NEWS had an interview, so Pi should be in the dressing room. As Ryo reached the Jimusho building, he walked straight to their room and he was right. Yamapi was sitting on a chair with the earbuds of his Ipod in his ears. Ryo threw his bag in the next best corner and tapped him on the shoulder. As Pi turned his head and looked at him with his big black eyes and took the earbuds out of his ears, his heart skipped a beat. But Ryo kept his cool, it would have concerned him if his heart wouldn’t speed up. Fast heart beating and Yamapi were two things that belonged together; at least in his opinion.

He once wondered if he was in love with Yamapi, but after he had thought a lot about it, he came to the conclusion that he was not.

For him, love and desire were two things that belonged together, but when he watched Pi dance sexily, he always thought he was cute. He would never tell the latter though, Pi would think he failed miserably and that was not true. Also, he loved it when Pi wasn’t acting the role of his perfect idol self, but even then, he wanted to cuddle him and not jump into bed with him. At least that was not his prior thought, (only his second). He had to admit that some of his photo shots had affected him quite a bit.

He shook his head to come back to reality. Those were thoughts he had already spent hours with, now was not the time for them.

Pi continued to look at him with questioning eyes.

“You look stressed.” Ryo started with his first argument on his paper. He walked behind Pi and massaged his shoulders.

Pi relaxed and let his head fall forward “You don’t look that peachy yourself. You had a lot of work, didn’t you?” Pi had seen the dark circles under Ryo’s eyes.

“Uhm, well yes.” Now it was difficult for Ryo to say that Pi needed a break. Okay he would simply ask and then try to change Pi’s mind. Of course, only when he said no.

“Ne, I wanted to ask: Why don’t we cook together next weekend? I’m sure it would be fun and it's an alternative from work.”

“Sure, sounds nice.” Pi looked up when Ryo stopped to massage his shoulders.

Ryo looked dumbfounded at Pi. Here he was, worried how he could make Pi agree and it was no problem at all.

Pi wondered if Ryo had wanted him to say no as he saw the look in his eyes. He started to fidget uncomfortably.

Ryo blinked and then smiled. “Cool. How about Italian food?” he beamed at him and Pi calmed down. Maybe it had been his imagination. He nodded. He should be able to do that and Ryo was there to help.

Ryo’s manager asked his idol out of the room to talk about his schedule. As Ryo walked past the dustbin, he let a paper fall into it as causally as possible. At least, that was what he had intended. It had instead, fallen next to it on the floor. Pi looked curiously at it. He stared, stared and stared at it. Normally, he wasn’t interested about the trash of other people, but Ryo had tried to act too causally that it was already suspicious.

Deciding it wouldn’t hurt, Pi got up and picked it up. Luckily it had not fallen in the dustbin or he would have considered again whether he wanted to pick it up.

He blinked after he had read the paper. Those were…? He chuckled. Now he was sure that Ryo wanted him to come. It was really cute how he had even tried to find arguments to make him agree.

He had probably agreed too fast and confused Ryo. With a smile he put the small paper in his wallet.

It seemed like he had found a new treasure.

Ryo waited patiently for the weekend to come and because weekend could mean Saturday and Sunday he had made sure it would be Saturday. And just like before, Pi had easily agreed. Now he wondered why he had thought Yamapi would decline his offer in the first place. It was obviously stupid to think so.

In the noon, he went shopping. He had thought about it. Maybe it would have been fun to do it together, but for an idol, shopping could easily turn into a nightmare. Especially when two idols were seen together. They would surely be in every blog or even worse newspapers the next day. He brought the ingredients for pasta and sauce and as he walked past a group of high school girls, he unconsciously tugged his cap further into his face.

He was relieved, when they walked past him and he was even more relieved when he was in his flat. High school girls were the most dangerous as they often recognized the idols.

The ingredients he bought were soon in the fridge and he just left the noodles on the counter for later.

Just as he wanted to set the table, he heard someone knocking at his door. If the clock was right, he still had half an hour till the agreed time.

He went to open the door and hoped it was nobody who would destroy the planned evening. To his surprise it was Pi who was biting his lip nervously and apologized for being early.

“I know it’s too early, but I was bored at home and then I thought I might get in a traffic jam and that maybe I should leave earlier and…” Pi’s voice got quieter by each word.

This was one of the moments Ryo liked. Yamapi looked unsure and not like an idol at all.

“No problem, come in.” He smiled warmly and stepped aside to let Pi inside is flat. Only then did he saw the bottle Pi had in his hand.

Yamapi followed Ryo’s look and then held it up for Ryo to take hold. “I thought that wine would be nice to match the Italian food and you should always bring a present when you get invited.”

“That’s a nice idea, but you didn’t have to bring anything. I mean we are cooking the food together.” Ryo put the wine on the table which he had wanted to set awhile ago. It looked like good wine. Well, he shouldn’t expect something less from Pi.

“Now that you are early, you have to help me set the table, but I guess we can do that later.” Ryo gave Pi a sign to follow him to the kitchen. “I thought we should maybe do something easy. I brought ingredients for Spaghetti Bolognese. Are you okay with that?” Pi could see the spaghetti already placed on the counter as he entered the kitchen. “Mhm, yummy.” Pi licked over his lips. He could already taste it.

“But Ryo, we don’t have to wear such awful aprons like during that old photo shoot, do we?” Ryo was surprised when Pi mentioned it. He didn’t think he remembered it.

“Well, I’m sorry I don’t have aprons with flower prints.” Ryo suppressed the grin that wanted to steal itself on his lips. “But I have a red and a blue one. I normally wear the red one, do you mind if you take the blue one?”

Yamapi shook his head, but thought something was wrong when they both wore the aprons. Wasn’t red his colour? He shrugged it of, it was just a colour.

Somehow Ryo felt very satisfied when he saw Pi in his blue apron.

“We should start with the sauce. Oh, and here is the cookbook.” Pi looked at the recipe Ryo had chosen. In the meantime, Ryo got everything out of the fridge.

In a comfortable silence, they started to work till it got broken because of…sobbing?

Shocked Ryo looked at Pi. He had tears in his eyes and from time to time whipped them with the back of his hand.

“Pi what’s wrong?” Ryo asked alarmed. Did he miss something when he was in Osaka and had not notice it when he came back?

To his surprise Pi chuckled. “Ryo, it’s just the onions.” Dumbfounded, Ryo looked at the onion Pi had been cutting. “Oh.”

“Wait I know how to make it easier.” Ryo placed the onions on the plate where he wanted to put the cut vegetables and then made the wooden board Pi had used wet with water. “Now it should be better or wait, I’ll cut the onions and you, the carrots.” Ryo changed places with Pi. When Pi had started to sob, it really had shocked him.

They cut a lot of vegetables and after they finished, Pi let Ryo make the sauce and took care of the spaghetti.

Just as he wanted to put the noodles in the hot water, Ryo screamed “Oh shit!” Pi got a shock and got in contact with the hot pot. He winced. “What’s wrong Ryo?” he asked as he held his finger under the cold water. “I forgot the ingredients for the Tiramisu… Eh? What’s wrong with your finger?”

“It’s all right. The sauce and the noodles are almost ready. 10 minutes are not enough time for Tiramisu. My finger is fine.” Pi turned off the water.

“But I wanted dessert.” Ryo was almost whining, but only almost because his pride was too big. Then he grabbed Yamapi’s wrist and before the other could protest, inspected his finger.

“You got burned.”

“I always do when I cook. It’s already okay again.” Ryo blew cold air at it just like his mother always did. Pi watched him with his head cocked to the side. At the moment he felt like hugging Ryo he was just too cute.

To make him feel better, Pi looked through the cupboards. Maybe there was something they could make a dessert out of.

Triumphant he held up chocolate pudding powder and powder for vanilla sauce. “It doesn’t fit with the spaghetti, but it’s yummy.” He beamed at Ryo and Ryo could only say yes as he saw Pi’s happy face. Who cared if it fitted?

Yamapi hurried up to get it ready as he got fresh milk and sugar and just as the noodles were just right he poured the warm pudding into two small bowls.

“We forgot to set the table.” Ryo said as they had finished everything and he went to place the pot on the table.

After they had done that, had their food on the plates and the red wine in their glasses, they leaned back, satisfied in their seats “Now, I’m really hungry.” The smell was delicious.

They used spoons and forks as with chopsticks, it would have been a hell lot of work.

“I don’t have even one carrot.” Pi pouted as he saw Ryo’s plate filled with a lot of carrots and in the pot too, but not one on his plate.

Ryo chuckled and put some carrots on his fork before he held it up in the high of Pi’s mouth. Yamapi leaned forward and took it into his mouth.

His face showed pure bliss and Ryo had the feeling it really had been a good idea and that they should maybe cook more often together.

.

“Ryo your mouth is completely red because of the sauce. You look like a child.” Yamapi said after they had eaten the last bit. There was nothing in the pot anymore.

“I’ll get the pudding!” It looked like Pi was in an ecstatic mood. He took the used plates with him and walked to the kitchen. Ryo immediately walked to the bathroom and cleaned his face. How embarrassing.

Pi put the plates in the dishwasher and got out the two bowls with pudding and the vanilla sauce. When he saw that Ryo wasn’t there he took the rest of the dirty dinnerware and placed it in the dishwasher as well.

When he came back, Ryo was back too. This time, with a clean face. Yamapi put the bowls down and then walked next to Ryo with the vanilla sauce. “You want some, don’t you?”

“Of course I do.” He watched how Pi slowly let it flow onto his pudding with great care. He had his lips slightly pursed and he just looked as determined as if he would learn the newest lyrics for one of their songs.

As Ryo woke up from his thought Pi was already back on his seat with vanilla sauce on his own pudding.

“Don’t you dare say it’s awful or something similar.” He said before he took his spoon and began to eat.

Ryo started to eat too, but he never thought about ever telling Pi it tasted awful. The pudding was creamy and sweet; just how he loved it.

He wanted to tell Pi how good it was but his words died on his tongue when he looked at him. And he had dared to call him a child? In his whole life he had never seen anyone who ate pudding this messily. The vanilla sauce was all around his mouth and he sucked at the spoon, trying to get every bit of pudding. He moaned delighted.

Ryo wondered if someone ever got an orgasm because of chocolate pudding or if Pi would be the first.

As Ryo watched how Yamapi again sucked at the spoon with a dreamy look he decided he had to distract himself.

“I didn’t know you love pudding so much.”

Pi looked at him with shining eyes and put the spoon out of his mouth with a plop. “Normally, I never eat it. It’s always served with whipped cream. Yuck!” He made a grimace as he only thought about it.

“Hmm, I see. Pi you have vanilla sauce around your mouth.” And it looks adorable Ryo added in his mind.

“Eh, where?” Pi licked with his tongue over his plump lips and sucked them into his mouth, but he missed a small spot.

Chuckling Ryo got up and with his thumb, wiped the rest away. Before he could even think about what he should do with it, Pi took his hand…and sucked the sauce of his thumb! He had to restrain himself to not gape like an idiot. Pi’s lip were soft and…oh my god was that his tongue?!

After Yamapi made sure there was certainly no vanilla sauce on Ryo’s finger anymore he let go of it.

“Tasty.” He smiled brightly.

But Ryo didn’t hear him, he was focusing on Pi’s lips. Lips he now knew were soft, plump and wet. He wondered if they tasted as good as they looked.

As if he was in trance, he let his left hand wander to Pi’s nape and leaned down. Their lips meet in a sweet kiss.

Sweet because of the pudding, sweet because of the vanilla sauce and sweet because it was Pi and no one else he was kissing. The angle was completely wrong because Pi was sitting and Ryo was standing so he had to lean down a lot, but they didn’t care.

When Pi opened his mouth for Ryo the kiss only got sweeter because of the dessert and Pi’s taste. Ryo almost became dizzy from it. Pi caressed his tongue with his own and moaned. It was a completely different moan than the one Ryo had heard as he ate the pudding earlier and suddenly the kiss got more heated. They sucked and licked at each others lips till they were out of oxygen.

Slowly they pulled apart.

Yamapi had a dazed look in his eyes that only cleared after a few minutes.

“I thought it would never happen.” The smile Pi sent Ryo was almost shy.

“What do you mean?” Ryo crouched down in front of Pi as he realized how uncomfortable the latter was when he looked down at him.

“I mean this.” Yamapi made a hand gesture between them and suddenly, he seemed to be very interested in his own lap.

“You mean you wanted it to happen?” To say Ryo was surprised was an understatement.

“Of course! Or I wouldn’t have kissed you back and instead have slapped you. No wait, that is too girly. I would have hit you. I’m a boxer after all.” Pi risked a short look at Ryo.

“Why didn’t you say anything?” Maybe then Ryo would have admitted his feelings earlier.

“Sorry, I‘m not very fond of getting rejected.” He showed Ryo an embarrassed smile.

Like so many times before, he had the urge to hold Pi but this time was the first time he gave in.

At that moment, Ryo realized that love does not always have to be passionate, but could also be tender. He had always thought that passion was the most important, but he had to be 26 to realize it. There were things that were much more precious. Things he had to protect and treasure.

A person he had to protect and treasure and the kissed had shown him that there was passion when they wanted it.

He let go off Pi and tugged at his arm. Together they walked to the couch and sat down close next to each other. Again Ryo put his arm around him and Pi cuddled close to his chest.

Throughout the rest of the evening they simply spent it together. From time to time, they would talk or even kissed.

Sweet and tender.
