Yes, Fandom, there will be a Yuletide!
However, it's not... quite... yet. For reasons that do not need exploring at this juncture, ahem, we haven't pinned down when we'll start nomination of fandoms and subsequent sign-ups. This means that actual writing time may be a bit shorter this year than in some previous years; this may inconvenience some of our participants, but it's unfortunately unavoidable.
Eligibility this year is as follows (edited for clarification):
If you have never previously written for Yuletide, or you've written for Yuletide and never defaulted, you are eligible.
If you defaulted without notice in the last two years, you are banned from participating in Yuletide this year or in the future.
If you defaulted after November 20th in 2007, you should have received word as to whether you were eligible to sign up in future, or not, and what you might have to do to keep your eligibility.
If you defaulted prior to 2006, but not since, we wiped the slate clean, and you can participate again. However, if you have defaulted in the past, please carefully consider what will make this year different.
If you've defaulted in the past for reasons that were avoidable (see last year's post, under Regarding past defaults), we would prefer you not sign up.
You can check your default status on the Yuletide Defaulter Self-Check, although this may give some false results due to various things. If you show up as "listed as a defaulter, but gave sufficient notice," then you are eligible this year, as long as you fulfilled any requirements that were imposed. And as it says:
If you believe you have been listed here in error, don't panic, just contact me at yuletide@yuletidetreasure.org, and we'll figure it out!
