I won't expound on it here, because spreading bad feelings is not my intent, but my response comment was immediate and sad and reactionary and when I was done writing it, I wanted to share it with more than just those who would read that post on the yuletide_admin comm... As a multi-year participant in Yuletide, I'd just like to say that yes, things could be differently done, and those different things might be better.*

But.

Yuletide is the only fic exchange I will ever participate in and that's because everybody is guaranteed a story by a certain date and Team Yuletide has real, workable plans to make that happen. (I've been burned in several other story exchanges and I cannot tell you how much that hurts.)

The thing I think best represents the goodwill that's at the heart of Yuletide is the pinch-hit team squad mob army. The holidays are an enormous time of stress and pressure and there's SO MANY people willing to take on the added challenge of trying to write the best story they possibly can, given the circumstances, so that somebody has their shiny on XMas morning. Talk about an embarrassment of riches.

And then there's the grande armee of everybody else who trolls the requests lists and writes extra stories as treats (and, oh snap! I just now realized, I forgot to tag my treat as such) and ( ... )
