This is the full list of fandom and character tags that will be available for Yuletide 2012, barring any changes made during the review period, which will last through October 14th at 9:00 pm Eastern US time. If we stop receiving reports, I'll go ahead and open signups early, although they' ( Read more... )

Unfortunately, it has multiple strikes against it, as compared to other video games. It's all in a single world, with a main protagonist, so allowing one part is closer to exploring unexplored corners of an ineligible fandom than a true spin-off. And neither ffnet nor AO3 treat individual AC games as separate "worlds", so there's no way to confirm eligibility numbers. Some of the tagmods had a fairly lengthy discussion when it was being reviewed, including those familiar with the games, and it was decided that it just wasn't distinct enough.

Okay, having really agonized over this, I'm going to go ahead and reinstate, with the two characters you name. I'm of many minds about this, and the main reason I'm doing it is that it hasn't even been released yet, as far as I can tell, which I didn't realize at first. It's handicapped in that neither archive maintain separate worlds/tags for it (which is something that could be possibly changed at the AO3, if the fans felt it was important, but that's neither here nor there).

It will probably not be eligible next year, however, because of the lack of distinguishability, overall.

Hi! Sorry to be a bother, but you put my Topkapi nom in the book section instead of the film section. The book was renamed Topkapi after the film came out, which may have contributed to the confusion, but my nomination is for the film.

Fixed. It may have just slipped into the wrong category by mistake, as the form of the tag is that of a movie.

"Swinging London RPF" should probably be under "Music & Bands" rather than "Celebrities & Real People." Only one of the four nominated characters is a musician, but the others are two pop managers and a DJ.

Though I suppose it's arguable...

It was already a tag in they system, but I've added Music & Bands alongside Celebrities & Real People, so it will appear under both.

Thanks! It's a tag that I've used before, so perhaps I never noticed previously what category it was in. RPF is so complicated.

In Royalty RPF I think "William Prince of Wales" (not my nomination) and "Prince William Duke of Cambridge" (my nomination) are duplicates/refer to the same person.

Also just a note, (I'm not an expert on royal titles/styles, so someone please correct me if this is wrong) neither William nor Harry currently hold the title "Prince of Wales", that's only Charles' title because he's heir apparent, so the character names "William Prince of Wales" and "Harry Prince of Wales" are incorrect. (The correct name for William would be the latter one above, and for Harry "Prince Henry of Wales" or just Prince Harry). But I doubt it'll cause confusion as they are.

Prince Harry currently doesn't hold a title in his own right (like how William wasn't Duke of Cambridge until his marriage), so he is styled as "Prince Harry of Wales," after his father (or Prince Henry of Wales, but then I think you'll run into the problem of no one remembering that's his real name), but you're right, "Harry Prince of Wales" is wrong. Charles, the actual Prince of Wales, is the only one entitled to that styling.

Character 'Edward "Ned" Poins' is miscategorized under 'Henry VI - Shakespeare' -- he actually appears in 'Henry IV Part 1 - Shakespeare' (and Part 2, as well, but that's not a listed fandom this year), under which he's also listed.

... and now I kind of want a fic where old Ned Poins is knocking around, making trouble for the Yorks, so maybe you should keep him in Henry VI. ^_~
