/random showing off to sale hauls

Aug 30, 2009 14:57

So I was a right moron today and ended up going to an event that wasn't supposed to happen until the 13th. Haha, orz. But it was the last two days of the bookstore sales, and I hadn't actually looked at any of them yet. So I checked. And returned home with seven books.

Powerbooks haul:
1. Exploits and Adventures of Brigadier Gerard by Sir Arthur ( Read more... )

fandom: sherlock holmes, bookses, sales

Ah! I miss being able to get books for a dollar sometimes when Borders and Barnes and Noble had sales. THOSE WERE GREAT. They never announced them though, so I had to be visiting the stores a lot to catch them.

I think my dad probably has the same old copy of Sherlock Holmes as you do, but it's not worn out yet since he doesn't read it much. So I can just borrow it.

Those are not so common here, as our sales are usually just at 20 - 50%, though we do have some book stores that deal especially with cheap books! And they are big things here, sales. Usually the entire month of August. 8 >

READ IIIIT! ♥ It is good I promise! Is the book in red leather with a gold trim and gold page sides?

They aren't here either, which is why I was so happy. They would never be announced or advertised anywhere with the regular sales. It was just that sometimes, without any warning, there would be carts or tables with books all marked $1 each.

And I have read Sherlock Holmes! <3 I actually used to read it (and have my dad read it to me) when I was a kid. It helped my vocabulary a lot because it used all kinds of words I hadn't heard yet. I'm not sure what the book looked like, now that you mentioned it. I think I have seen the edition you were talking about though, and I remember wondering what dad's old one looked like because I couldn't decide if I wanted to get the new one or not.

Ooh! It's too bad that they're not advertised, though! Or maybe I just catch a lot of that sorta news coz my friends all like books? (Also, one cannot avoid going into the mall here nearly every day, or at least once a week.)

*w* /coos at a fellow fan? /coooo! But yeah, that's also how I used to fix my vocabulary. That and the Three Musketeers. ♥ Kids these days should read books like these more, it is good for their learning!

The nice black and blue hardbounds are the ones I got! There were some paperbacks floating around but they were really fug. And somehow more expensive??

I will! This is a good change, since I've been reading the ebook for a while now and it gets tedious to read sometimes. XD

Maybe? XD Hopefully? Or I at least want to get Watson's voice down better, or fix my voice for myself.

YES, THEY ARE JUST IN MY SHELF~ somehow.

The sales end today, I think? But they may extend, given the stacks of books they still have to dispose.
