Shin2 Dan: Chapter 3

Jun 26, 2009 05:44

After they arrived in their classroom, Kamiki plops down to his seat while Yamada took his. Kamiki turns to stare at the back at Yamada. Many thoughts filled his head as to the events that just occurs at the back of the green house. Knowing this is a bad time to ask anything, Kamiki keeps silent. He sighs and turns his head, only to notice a shadow of a girl standing next to his desk.

“Fu... Fukuda- san!” Shocked, Kamiki quickly stood up.

Fukuda, while still expressionless, her beady eyes glare at him with antipathy. They stare at each other in silent. The strange atmosphere between them caught the eyes of the students presented in the classroom. Then, before Kamiki could react, Fukuda slaps him across the face, stunning everyone in the room. She then turns and walks back to her desk with all eyes glue on her.

After getting back his composure, Kamiki flops back down to his desk while clutching the side of his cheek, wondering if he woke up at the wrong side of his bed today. While the slap wasn’t hard, it was still a shock that he angered the girl whom he currently fear the most, and right on his first day of the new school.

At the same time, the class broke into whispers as they stares at both Fukuda, who is now typing something on her keitai, and Kamiki, who is resting his head on the table with one hand clutching his cheek.

“That was shocking.”

“I wondered what happen today.”

“Earlier, Fukuda-san was yelling quite loudly too, before she ran out of the classroom.”

“I wondered what happened between them.”

“I don’t think I’d ever seen Fukuda-san like that before.”

“Kamiki-kun must really be something to angered Fukuda-san.”

Ignoring the whispers from their curious classmates, Fukuda and Kamiki continues staying in their position. Yamada turns to the window and rest his head on his hand, the corner of his mouth wearing a small smile.

The door of the classroom suddenly slides open, showing Shida Mirai carrying a stack of paper on her arm. “Hey guys!” She cheerfully smiles, stopping the noises in the process. Noticing the change in atmosphere of the classroom, Shida’s face changed, “What’s wrong?”

The students gave her guilty looks and turn their head towards Kamiki. Shida’s eyes follow their gazes to the desk of the new students. His head was now erect, but his hand still clutches his cheek. Worriedly, Shida quickly steps toward the new boy.

“What’s wrong?” Shida exclaimed as she surveys Kamiki’s cheek, “Who did this to you?”

“Oh,” Kamiki nervously smile, “It’s nothing. I just accidentally fall on the way back here.”

“What are you talking about, Kamiki-kun?” one of the girl speaks up with an accusing tone, “We all saw that it was Fukuda-san who did it to you.” Many students nodded in agreements.

Fukuda Mayuko turns her head toward Shida, “Yea, it was me.”

“Fukuda-san!” Shida turns toward Fukuda’s desk, “You know as well as I do that fighting is not allowed in school.”

“No, it’s okay, Shida-san.” Kamiki tries to appease the situation.

“It is not okay!” Shida said, “As class representative, I need to set the student to the straight path.”

Fukuda slowly stood up, “First, it was a one side slap, and therefore, it is not a fight.” She slowly walks toward Shida until they are face to face. “Secondly, I have special permission.”

“That’s a lie!” Shida exclaimed furiously, “Who on earth would allow such thing?”

Fukuda reached into the pocket of her skirt, but before she was able to pull whatever it was out a voice stop them, “Mirai, just leave it.” Yamada called from his seat, “Kamiki-san did not want to press the problem any further, so I don’t think you should as well.”

“But... but...” Shida turns to Yamada with an unsatisfied face.

“Yes, he’s right!” utilize the moment, Kamiki chimed in, “I’m fine, really. Fukuda-san didn’t really hurt me at all.”

“Fine!” Shida turns to Fukuda, “But Fukuda-san, I must warn you that, if things like this happened again, the school will be notify.” She then walks to the front of the class to pass out the stack of paper in her arm.

With a slightly disappointed face, Fukuda returns to her own seat. Taking out her keitai, she quickly wrote a message and send to Yamada.

Hearing the buzzing of his own vibrating keitai, Yamada took it out and stares at the message from the girl behind him.

“Why did you stop me? \(`O’#)/" It read.

“I know you was about to give her that.

You know that would only expose our secrets.

She’s my childhood friend, can’t you be lenient just this once?

What about the mission?” Yamada quickly typed back.

“Mission accomplished. V(^____^)V

Hehe~

I got the flash drive.” The quick reply from Fukuda read.

Before Yamada can type anything back, both of them receive a new message from a sender named BOSS. On the screen were only the words, “Good job! Bring the new kid to lunch.”

Fukuda and Yamada exchange confused glances, but before they could do anything, a woman in her 20s with short hair steps into the room.

“Settle down everyone.” The woman called as she looks around, “I heard there’s a new student today.”

Hearing this, Kamiki bolt straight up, “Yes, I’m Kamiki Ryunosuke.”

“Don’t be so tense, Kamiki-san.” The woman smile sweetly, “I’m Horikita Maki, I’m in charge of English.” As Kamiki sat back down, Horikita turns to the class, “You guys have seen the handout that Shida-chan passed out right? Please try to fill it out as much as you can. You can use your textbook. Oh, Kamiki-san, you don’t have the book yet have you? Fukuda-san, please lend him your book.”

Shocked at her words, Kamiki nervously turns to Fukuda to check her reaction, only to find Fukuda mechanically brings her desk closer to his without another word. And for the second time that day, Kamiki wishes that time could go 10 times faster.
