…
“Ugh.” Kamiki moans as he was being pushed from all sides by the students.
“This is why I told you to just wait until later, when everyone’s finished looking.” Yamada grits his teeth as one girl pushed him from his right.
They, along with the rest of the first year student body, are pushing each others in front of the score board, trying to see the results from their mock exam. It was Kamiki’s idea to come and look. Yamada doesn’t really care, since he usually placed in the top percentile of the school anyways. He’s only here to accompany Kamiki.
“But I’m worried about my grades.” Kamiki is starting to understand the feeling of people who are claustrophobic, “I don’t think I did well in that mock exam, and I’m on a scholarship too.”
Suddenly, Kamiki feels the pushing and shoving lessen momentarily. The students around him quickly take a step away. He looks around confused, but only seconds later, someone pushes him to the ground.
“Out of the way!” The boy scowled at Kamiki. With a huff, he quickly left, leaving the rest of the students there to look at him for a moment before return to their mobbing of the score board.
Still in a daze, Kamiki suddenly feels himself being pick up. He turns around to recognize his friend.
“You okay?” Yamada asked.
“Who was that?” Kamiki widen his eyes, “What’s wrong with him?”
“Oh, that’s just Hongo Kanata.” Yamada shrugs, “He’s probably angry at himself for being second to Mamayu again.”
“Why?” Kamiki wondered, “Being second isn’t bad…” pausing a bit, “Wait… Fukuda-san is first?”
“That’s just normal of her.” Yamada said and he once again joins Kamiki in the fight to the front of score board.
When they finally stand in front of it after many struggles, Kamiki stares intensely at the names and numbers on the large sheet of paper, trying to find his own name. His hand clasps together, praying his score isn’t too low on the board.
Yamada smirks as he watches his friend being nervous over a mock exam result. It’s not the mock exam that people should worry about. The true problem is the real exam result. He then turns toward the sheet, looking for his own name. The moment the names and rank meet with his eyes, Yamada stares at it in shocked.

“Nakajima-san is tied first with Fukuda-san.” Kamiki noted, “That’s amazing!”
Yamada nods, it’s no wonder why Kanata was so sore at the results. Instead of being second again, he’s now in third, below a new transferred student that just came today. But no, that’s not what caught his eyes. There’s definitely something weird with the scores.
“Yamada-kun,” Kamiki suddenly become quiet, “What rank do I need to be above in order to maintain my scholarship again?”
“Since you’re on the academic scholarship, you need to have a score above 85.” Yamada answers. Turning to his friend he asks, “Why? What’s wrong?”
Kamiki just points at the score board, his eyes crestfallen.

At that instant, a vibration is felt at Yamada’s pant. He quickly steps outside of the crowd and takes out his keitai. Kamiki follows, though not at all happy, he too, takes out his own keitai.
Flipping it open, Yamada’s eyes light up at the name of the familiar sender. He quickly clicks to read his message, a smile forms at the corner of his lip. Today may be turning into a very nice day, a very nice day indeed.
