I went to see Megamind yesterday with caster13, and as I said to him and mistress_gwen, I figured out why it didn't suck, and why as a comparison, most Dreamworks movies do.

It's because they didn't riddle the entire movie with pop culture references. All they did was use really catchy music, but they didn't put in lame references or cheesy things like that. They ( Read more... )

And when they did use pop culture references, they were *good* ones, like Marlon Brando/Space Dad.

I just watched it in horrendeous quality from my computer, because I couldn't wait for it to come to Finland (25.12? No way I can wait ofr a month!). I loved it! Now I just want to see it in the movies so I can enjoy it fully...

I would agree with that. I remember cringing every time ads for that horrendous Shark Tale came out a few years ago. You know it's bad when the pop jokes are stale by the time the movie is released on DVD...

I can't say I understood all the pop references, but I still enjoyed the movie. 8D
