distant, far-off things beg for a distraction

He's seated himself on a little rocky promontory jutting out from the island's cliff-face, towards the open, salty sea -- legs folded underneath him and what appears to be a fishing pole in his hands. It's anybody's guess whether Judai is doing this out of the strict necessity of feeding himself -- or whether he simply wants to spend a few quiet ( Read more... )

Johan has kept mostly to himself around the island; those few times he's wandered out he's either not ran into anyone, or has crossed paths with Juudais who seem intent on killing him just because he's friends with Yubel. He's not sure if they are the same one or variations, really. He's never stuck around long enough to ask.

He watches this one from a bit of a distance, finding himself curious as to what makes Juudais in general want to strangle him on sight. He doesn't want to get too close...the fish might not be biting, but Juudais do, in his opinion.

He inches a bit closer, and his foot presses down too hard on a stick, causing it to crack like a thunderbolt beneath his weight. Oops.

That sound makes Judai rise up in a quick, fluid motion -- dark eyes pinning Johan with an intense, searching look. The herald isn't tense or threatening in his posture -- mostly since his movement was a remnant of that fight-or-flight instinct which was brutally drummed into him by Dark World, rather than an outward reaction to a danger present right now.

His senses hadn't alerted him to anything amiss before the arrival of Johan, so the other's presence is simply surprising to him.

"Do you make it a habit of yours to sneak up on people?"

He poses the question on a light, dryly amused tone of voice -- examining the other from head to toe, looking for the subtle visual cues which can tell him which particular Johan Andersen this one happens to be. It has to be said that worlds full of doubles have taught Judai to not take any sort of observation for granted merely at a first glance.

This Johan appears physically no different from any other average Johan. But as soon as Judai looks towards him, he steps back a bit, ready to flee if murder attempts look to be happening.

"I wasn't trying to," he replies. WHich is the utter truth; he was just going to watch, and probably leave quietly, if only he hadn't stepped on that stick.

He snorts at that.

"I gathered as much, since you made so much noise."

The herald's eyes linger on Johan's face, clearly recognizing the signs and marks of wariness etched there -- similar in a way to those of the boy that he's been clumsily attempted for the past few months. It causes a stirring of unease within him, because this isn't an expression that he wants to see on their faces when they regard him.

"You're looking at me as if I might eat you" Judai points out -- injecting more humor into his voice, in an attempt to clear the unease which has settled in the air between them.

Yet another Johan, but with a very noticeable physical difference: he's got large white wings protruding from his back, with feathers that glisten in all colors when hit with light at the right angle. He's been watching this Juudai (attempt to) fish, rather amused at the unusual inability to do so properly. Juudais aren't typically any more patient than the next person, yet most of them love fishing, though the reason why is beyond him... as well as this one, apparently.

"Having trouble?" he calls out with an amused smirk in his voice, hand against the cliffside as he slowly walks forward.

"You could say that" he answers a touch archly -- thought not at the inquiring person or at the question itself, but more at this effort of his that was apparently wasted for nothing. Judai angles his head in such a way as to glance at the other from his lying position.... and then proceeds to silently gape.

Multiverse or no multiverse, a Johan with wings attached to his body is something that he never expected to see!

Grimacing slightly, Judai brings himself up -- quietly wondering whether something is messing around with his perceptions or if it's merely this place's particularly whimsical brand of insanity at work again.

"I take it that you aren't a figment of my imagination, right?" Judai poses the question on a deadpan, rather dry tone of voice -- not really expecting it to be so because his senses clearly tell him that this Johan is very much real and standing before him, in bones, flesh and blood. Still, it can't hurt to be certain.

"I hope not. I dunno if I'd want to be part of your imagination," Johan says teasingly, wings folded behind him, but still plainly visible -- probably at least his own height in span if they were to be extended fully from the hilts to the very tip of the last feather. He tilts his head.

"It seems kinda odd to find a Juudai that can't fish... maybe you just don't have the same insane patience for that sort of thing." Shrugging, he examines him a little more closely. Nothing blatantly different about him, anyway, from the outside... "Well, to be honest, I don't know what most of them see in it either. I'd get really bored, even with someone around to talk to."

He can't help but be rather fascinated by those wings -- dark eyes tracing their elegant shapes and studying the kaleidoscope of color which glints upon their smooth surfaces. Indeed, he's certainly seen similar body-structures on Duel Spirits... but on humans? Not so much ( ... )
