Got a ton of great data in Ottawa. Still tired from catching a 5:40 AM train yesterday. Still trying to get receipt out of motel since the front desk wasn't open until 7 AM. What the frak.
I think my issue with the Rose scene was that he visited a version who didn't know him. At least with the rest SOMEONE knew who this guy giving intense looks was. But it was kinda cute, so I'll live.
The Jack scene was classic Jack, but DUDE Children of Earth is the elephant in the room. Apparently we don't talk about it. :p
According to an angry Martha on dear_mun, they decided that her name should be Martha Smith-Jones and her first episode was Smith and Jones, aren't they clever! ... yeah.
i_paint_the_sky, that's the best icon I've seen since yesterday. That one was Martin Freeman as Arthur Dent from an outtake of the H2G2 movie. I won't spoil if you've not seen it but it's the best outtake I've ever seen.
And if you want to know a possible source for "GERONIMOOOOOOOOO", watch series one, episode two of Moffat's previous series "Coupling".
Don't say I didn't warn you, even though I kind of didn't :p
Objectively, it's cute pairing, but watching the Martha/Mickey scene, I couldn't shake the sense I was watching scripted fic. I've tried to find actual fic explaining this, but so far none of it is really to my satisfaction (it all paints Martha as way, way too unself-aware). No post-Last of the Time Lords Martha stays with a rebound that long.
I was sort of disappointed with the Donna plotline. Also, that's pretty much three-for-three on the ex-companions happy endings including married bliss. This bothers me a little bit.
It would be cute if it hadn't come so completely out of left field. Did Tess manage to get Tom killed by Daleks or something? But I just spent the entire scene going "Umm, what?" Especially since according to an angry Martha on dear_mun, it only happened because they decided it would be funny if her last name was Smith-Jones (wouldn't it be Jones-Smith anyway?) since her first episode was Smith and Jones.
It would have been nice if Donna had gotten more of her oomph back. Or done a bit more...

Either way, that's my new fanon :P
On the upshot, Wilf was marvelous. Cribbins really brought out the best in Tennant's acting - the cafe scene in part one was heartwrenching.
