Poem: "Here Again, Gone Again"

Apr 16, 2024 01:20

This poem is spillover from the April 2, 2024 Poetry Fishbowl. It was inspired by a prompt from Doug Edwards. It also fills the "Defenestration" square in my 4-1-24 card for the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Bingo fest. It has been sponsored by Anthony Barrette.

Warning: This poem is political horror.

Oh per-lease. We've seen Trump in the White House before. We voted against him, and it wasn't that the glyphosate problem got *worse* so much as that computer-literate people finally started to understand what had started in 2009, but we survived. In some ways the Trump administration was better than the current one. Last poll I saw, a majority of voters plan to vote for Trump--and that's even without the ones like me who will never vote *for* Trump, but will vote *against* Biden.

(If Kennedy drops out, I'll nominate my overcoat. It was made in the USA, going on 40 years ago. It has a clean record of having always been one of the cleanest trench coats in Washington, and, if elected, will stay clean.)

Seriously, Trump is very easy not to like but he's only one man. Government will still actually be done by the usual suspects--mostly unelected people who loathe him.
