This poem came out of the January 3, 2017 Poetry Fishbowl. It was inspired by a prompt from Dreamwidth user Siliconshaman.

Changing Your Nature

It is not easy
to change your nature,
but it is possible.

You can grow with
the sleepy speed of trees,
the cold creep of glaciers.

You can grind down bad habits
like wind wearing away stone,
like water creating caves.
