Perhaps--it's also the ability to produce genius people who not only produce new inventions but who can adapt and improve on each others' inventions?
I mean spears are great but when somebody added a spear thrower to the spear, it really became a super-tool.
Now just imagine what would happen if several of these geniuses managed to breed with each other?
