The following poems from the June 7, 2016 Poetry Fishbowl are currently available. Poems may be sponsored via PayPal -- there's a permanent donation button on my LiveJournal profile page -- or you can write to me and discuss other methods.

There are still verses left in the linkback poems "The Tornado Blew Away," " Unfamiliar Feelings," " Mipnei Tikkun Ha'olam,"  and " Tour Guides for All of Knowledge."  Linking to this page will reveal new verses in whichever poem you request.

"Bearers of Witness with Justice"
Continuing the tale of the whalers is the free-verse poem "Bearers of Witness with Justice." This is the trial, so WARN ALL THE THINGS! But like it says on the tin, there is justice served.
613 lines, Buy It Now = $306.50

Moving the trial to the waterfront
produced all kinds of challenges,
from the legal to the logistical.

After some negotiation, they decided
to hold the preliminaries in the courtroom,
since the whales had little interest in
such human details, and that reduced
the amount of time needed on the docks.

"Changing Relations"
From this I got the free-verse poem "Changing Relations." Lorina's cat isn't speaking to her, Alexandria has flea trouble, and Randie's yard is a jungle. Some of these things are easier to fix than others.
60 lines, Buy It Now = $20

"A Flight of Kestrels"
A Dreamwidth prompt inspired the Waltz wave "A Flight of Kestrels." It's about their aerial courtship.
19 lines, Buy It Now = $10

"A Prickly Problem"
A backchannel prompt inspired the free-verse poem "A Prickly Problem." One of Halley's friends from BlackSheep drops by to make sure that thon is okay, and brings along an unusual critter.
150 lines, Buy It Now = $75

Halley and Edison were the ones closest
to the door when the doorbell rang, but
Leo was only a few steps behind them.

Even though things in town had
settled down some, Leo and Olivia
kept dropping by periodically
to make sure things were okay.

"The Rare Elements of Grace"
Your Judd prompt contributed to the free-verse poem "The Rare Elements of Grace." Alicia and Judd invite Darelle and Ziggy to pony club.
380 lines, Buy It Now = $190

Darelle had honestly expected
for the breeding to be the end of it.

When Ziggy went into heat,
Darelle contacted Alicia, who
brought Judd to visit.

The two horses had flirted
and played until Ziggy was
ready to mate -- which they did
several times -- and that was that.

"Such Agreeable Friends"
For small furry animals, I wrote the free-verse poem "Such Agreeable Friends." People in the Lacuna start keeping pets.
33 lines, Buy It Now = $15

"Terrible Choices"
Your Quiar prompt inspired the free-verse poem "Terrible Choices." It looks at the issue of chimerae.
17 lines, Buy It Now = $10

"Three Days to Apex"
A backchannel prompt inspired the free-verse poem "Three Days to Apex." It talks about starting a detritus food web.
22 lines, Buy It Now = $10

"An Unprecedented Duel with Nature"
I see your squid and raise you a mission to Europa and Titan. :D "An Unprecedented Duel with Nature" is written in free verse.
54 lines, Buy It Now = $20

"Watered with Our Tears"
A DW prompt inspired the poem "Watered with Our Tears." It's written mostly in unrhymed tercets, about the life and death of pets. WARNING for references to animal death, obviously. Have kleenex.
28 lines, Buy It Now = $15

"Who Lives Here?"
Your bird prompt inspired the free-verse poem "Who Lives Here?" in which Aidan and Saraphina explore the wildlife in their yard.
75 lines, Buy It Now = $37.50

"Who lives here?"
Saraphina said, pointing
at a hole in the leach field
for the septic tank that
also served as habitat
for local wildlife.

A DW squirrel prompt inspired two linked poems about a character I wrote up some time ago but hadn't introduced yet. Both are written in free verse.

"The Pilot Soul" introduces Rad the Squirrel and his first exciting trip into the sky.
72 lines, Buy It Now = $36

There was a squirrel
who loved flying machines.

Every day he would watch them --
the little ones in the park that was
his home, and the big ones that
flew in sky high above.

He watched the humans
come and go, sending
the little planes up.

"Eyes Turned Skyward" continues with the challenges of being Super-Intelligent but not having the secondary powers of Telepathy or Human Speech, and explains how Rad comes to work for SPOON.
59 lines, Buy It Now = $20

In the days that followed, Rad saw
the humans again, but they never
left their planes unattended anymore.

They talked to him, and he chattered
back at them, but of course they
couldn't understand him.
