Poetry Fishbowl Report for October 2-3, 2012

Oct 12, 2012 20:53

Our internet connection continues to be flaky, hence various delays and backlogs.  We have a new antenna on our house, and the connection hasn't gone out completely  since then, but the speed and performance vary.  *sigh*  But hey, I'm done with my Llewellyn assignments, so that's helping make time for other stuff.  Thank you for putting up with the cascade of chaos that is my life.

This month's theme was "horror: demons."  I worked from 12:45 PM to 4:15 AM on Tuesday, so about 13 hours 30 minutes, accounting for breaks.  I also worked a big chunk of Wednesday, but I don't count the spillover time.  Prompts came trickled in throughout much of the day.  I wrote 18 poems on Tuesday and another 5 on Wednesday.  Most were free verse, with a lot of epics and serial poems.  Some were single prompts, but toward the end of Tuesday I made some combinations.

Activity was high.  A total of 21 people sent prompts.  There were 54 comments on LJ and another 8 on DW, including mine.  Some of the crosstalk inspired poems.  Welcome new prompter DW user breezeshadow, whom you can thank for the extra freebie.

Buy Some Poetry!
If you plan to sponsor some poetry but haven't made up your mind yet, read the list of unsold poems from October. That includes the title, length, price, and the original thumbnail description for the poems still available.

Currently sponsored poems have been posted, and backchannel copies of the others sent to prompters.  Per the $200 goal, " The Strength of Starfire" is the free epic.  Carried over from last month's perk fulfillment, there will be a half-price poetry sale for The Steamsmith series from October 15-21.

I still need to write the donor perk-post.  Donors this month include DW user jb_slasher, Stephen Laird, janetmiles, Anthony & Shirley Barrette, rix_scaedu, and laffingkat.  Thank you all for your support and enthusiasm.

The Poetry Fishbowl project also has a permanent landing page.
