This poem was inspired and sponsored by marina_bonomi.  (You may also enjoy reading the original, quite detailed prompt describing delphine-human cooperation.)  Herein the dolphins explain their relationship with humans. It is written with some delphine phrasing in an attempt to show how the perceptions of people who live in a 3D aquatic environment and see ( Read more... )

It has been a lively month. I'm pleased. I wasn't sure how popular this topic would turn out to be, but it seems that people really like water. *chuckle* Not to mention the surprise guest theme of Christian mysticism.

Having a list of upcoming themes helps. :)
I'm already scribbling down prompts for next month.

Yeah, I should go update the landing page for the January/February themes.

Donors get access to the complete list of slated themes, as a perk:

Oh wow. I love the alien feel to it, and the concepts.

And we are silly creatures, aren't we humans? Taking boats out into the deep ocean where we cannot swim to safety if something goes wrong. Wandering into deserts where there is no water. Climbing mountains with no air at the top just to say we can. Going into space...

And yet, that makes us human.

Lots of deep introspection thoughts in this one.

*laugh* It's true. We are pretty much the only species that routinely leaves its safe environment on purpose. I have an extreme-survival book that remarks on that point too. Hm, I wonder if that's an indicator for sentience.

Translating dolphin thoughts into English is challenging, but fun. I have at least one other poem from a previous fishbowl (not yet published) that is straight translation from echolocation.

Ooh, is that still available for sponsorship, or is it going to be published elsewhere eventually? It occurs to me that I have friends who are very fond of dolphins, and the dolphin-themed poems might make good future gifts (plus I really enjoy them).

Yes, "Echoscape" is still available. I've noted your interest. For scrapbooking reference, it fits on one page.
