Am stealing this meme from , who is fluffier than I thought (juuuust kidding, Meg. Maybe.):

Five Weird Habits of Mine1. I like to write things in green. Dunno why; I think I have at least three green writing-pens at home and one in my purse. The IMPORTANT things get written down in green ( Read more... )

Mmmm... I must try to make Dango at some point. (By the by, your underline tag needs to be closed...)

Yup; caught that and fixed it. Dango is horrifically addictive (and fortunately easy to make). But I need a grill; I found out the hard way that setting your oven on 'broil' and putting the try RIGHTUPCLOSE to the burners results in charred wooden sticks that snap when you pick them up (and make your friends laugh at you) and sort of blistered dango-balls. Don't try this at home, kids!

You can also do 'em with a piece of metal grid over a tealight that's got a base a couple inches high. (Or those little Smores-grill things that are basically the bottom half of a fondue pot. Or a pu-pu platter.) I never bust out actual charcoal, but tealights and Sterno and funky things done with the base of my parents' old avocado green fondue pot are my friend...

I wonder if I could roast 'em like marshmallows over a stove-burner? **contemplates** Without setting off my smoke-alarm again, I mean?

What sort of rice flour do you use for it, oh Goddess of Kitchen Discord, Odd Recipes and Writing? (Brand may also be important.)

(Jou-shinko is traditional for dango, and in my experiments it's easier to handle, but some recipes call for part jou-shinko and part mochiko, and mochiko is a whole lot easier to find, so if you add less water to mochiko you can do it with that.)

(tiptoeing out again)

Thank you ^_^ I heard getting the right flour is important, so this is a big help.

UNrelated, but what volumes of Fruits Basket do you have beyond 12? I am rereading based on the revelations of the last few chapters, and my own collection only goes through 12. :( *gets on knees* PLEASE may I borrow for a bit?

Hmmm... think I have 13, but (**drumroll**) I have LOTS of scanlations. Lots and lots. Can burn 'em onto a CD for you-- want anything else? Courtesy of Icka, I also have Detective Conan scans up into vol. 51, and I seriously doubt that she'd mind me giving you copies. And btw, I still have your Christmas ornaments I made for you & Jamie, AND I have your metal cash-box!

Anko is fabulous on dango too -- in fact you often find 'em sold in packs with mitarashi dango on one side and anko dango on the other. Basically, take red bean paste and thin it out a little with water so it'll pour/spread without tearing the dango and you're all set ( ... )
