SO.  I've worked it out.  Not counting today, I have 71 days until I leave.  That's a touch over ten weeks, y'all, which is a really short time.  Am I freaked out?  Um, YES.

Things I have done to get ready:
1.  Paid my downpayment on the tour
2.  Bought flight insurance
3.  Bought plane-tickets
4.  Bought luggage (mine was very, very dead.)
5.  Scheduled

Also: so totally jealous. There had better be many many pictures taken and posted. All of those ryoukans look absolutely lovely.

I hope you can get the work thing straightened out reasonably quickly and easily.

I hope so too! I'm gonna prod a bit tomorrow, I think. And I plan on leaving the laptop at home but taking TONS of pics and uploading 'em while I'm there-- pretty much all the ryokans have internet capability.

I am so excited for you! It is going to be an awesome vacation and work needs to deal with their side, it is not your problem.

Well, it is, sort of... if I want to come back to something that isn't fubar'd to oblivion and beyond. Because if they screw it up, I'm the one who'll have to fix it or live with the screwup, and I *know* what kind of screwups they're capable of, all too intimately. After I wrote the above I kind of gently reminded my supervisor that hey, in two months I'd be GONE FOR TWO WEEKS, DID YOU FORGET? And she looked somewhat alarmed; maybe it sank in.

Also, I plan on trolling among the Junior Cheesecrack group to see if anybody'd be willing to apartment-and-petsit for three weeks; I'd pay 'em in advance and and they'd have my place to stay in. Think any of 'em would bite?
