Fanart: Freak Camp - Red String of Fate

May 31, 2012 21:32

Recently, lavinialavender and brosedshield made an appeal for fanart for their AMAZING fic, "A Monster by Any Other Name", over at the comm freac_camp. The original prompt is here; it's already been answered by assorted artists (including the scarily prolific cedarcliffe), who are all absolutely fantastic--but I've taken my own whack at it. I hope I've done it some sort of justice, despite my ( Read more... )

YES.

I cannot begin to say how fantastic it is to see my prompt done in so many artistic styles. I really love this one -- oh man, how well the negative-reflections idea works. More than any of the others, it emphasizes the divide between them -- and yet there is that lovely red thread that transcends it. :)

Ohh, and what's going on in the background on Sam's side? Some figures...and something in the foreground I can't make it, but is incredibly ominous.

Thank you SO MUCH for fulfilling my prompt! I love this one to pieces too. ♥ Hope to see more from you in future!

THANK YOU!

Ugh, looks like I made the saturation too dark again. *facepalm* THIS WILL BE FIXED. There is stuff in the background, yes, but I'm leaving up to you to interpret what it is. :)

The thing in the foreground is actually completely unintentional. It was a sloppy paint test--aw, crap. I'll get that fixed too. But I'm absolutely thrilled you like it--when I saw the prompt I thought, immediately, of the "great divide" between the world of Sam and the world of Dean, and how the string has to span that divide... I'm really, really happy that it worked. Phew! :D

Thank you so much! I'm glad to see that my use of Sharpie was not too much of a problem. :D

Ooooo, so pretty! I love the simplicity of the style, the effect you develop with the basic black and white contras, emphasizing their differences, but tying them together at the same time. And I'm kind of sillily fond of Dean's hair and the "shadows" on his coat and...yes. Yes very much. Thank yooooou!

Awww...

Thank you, and Lavinia, for this AMAZING story to inspire me, and all the other artists who've come up with our own art prompted by yours.
