I still feel part of Merlin fandom five years after its end, in part because I had been fannish about Arthurian stories well before it came along. But as with many of us, it's also because there continue to be pieces of fanwork that resonate so strongly that it can suck us back in or keep us tied to the canon ( Read more... )

1) The vid The Greatest by bironic was part of the Fandom Trumps Hate fundraiser, and it's a pretty marvelous view. Described as "a celebration of some badass characters of color in recent science fiction, fantasy and horror TV and movies," these are largely very recent.
