Tag wrangling Open House

1) So, I haven't much mentioned tag wrangling for the AO3 here because I just started this year and frankly don't have a lot of experience to offer anyone with questions. However, if you've ever had questions about tags at AO3 or have ever thought of volunteering to be a wrangler (which I encourage!), there is going to be an Open House this weekend.

What's more there will be some "door prizes" of AO3 invites at the event. Given the current waiting list for new accounts, there's probably someone out there who would be glad to have one.

2) Also on the topic of the AO3, the OTW is doing its annual membership drive this month and there has been more than one "matching donation" offer made. So if you've been considering a donation or wanted to join the OTW, it'll be a good time to get your donation doubled. And as the AO3 could use another set of new servers to better accommodate new users, it's the sort of gift that will keep on giving.

3) From the important to the silly, I was amused by the pairing of this photo with this "news" story. If ever a slash pairing were to be "outed" through the occurrence of MPREG, a lot of people would be unsurprised it was this one.

4) We went to see a production of "Blast!". People who can play instruments, dance, sing and even juggle rather put the Glee cast to shame.

5) This article asking what sports fandom is all about made me wonder anew at the motivations in fan fiction.

"So many people enjoy sports and pick favorite teams so they can live vicariously through something. “Hey! My favorite sports team did well! The competitor in me will share in this meaningless victory!”

But for me, as a Giants fan, I get more joy and feel more productive when the Giants are losing. I know, it makes no sense, but when they lose I can bitch and moan about why the Giants lose. How do I interject myself into the baseball season if they’re winning just fine without my expert analysis?"
