So.

Here are the lessons I've learnt thus far:

Before you ring the fellows in IT to wail at them about how your work laptop is at odds with your wireless network at home, check that your bloody wireless card is actually switched on Yeh. Good advice. I managed to discover the same situation with my work Dell, but only after I'd reinstalled the driver (well, forced Windows to rediscover the device and install the driver).
