[for Coraline]

With Angela's disappearance, Coraline had been more sombre than usual. Lucy thought she could understand. Should someone she was so close to - that she considered family - vanish, it would upset her as well. It was why, after Halloween, that Lucy finally organised for the two of them to go on a proper adventure. They'd talked of the unicorns ( Read more... )

Coraline appeared out of the jungle, stopping to catch her breath before running forward to meet Lucy. Coraline pulled catbag more firmly over her shoulders and smiled, just a little, at her best friend. From the look of Coraline's face, her friends could instantly see how Angie's disappearance had effected her.

"Hey Lucy, sorry I'm late. Adam was...Adam." Coraline said though that wasn't true, it was Coraline who had clung to Adam desperately and tried not to cry when she had to go. She was so worried that he'd go away too that she hated to be seperated from him even for small amounts of time. "You looked like you were somewhere nice."

Lucy had been distracted; thinking of nothing more than her brothers and some plans they had made for later that week. She smiled when she noticed Coraline. Perhaps the smile was not as wide as it might have been on seeing her friend, but if that was so it was only because of worry.

"It's alright. I didn't mind." She stood, brushing her dress flat, "it was nothing." Lucy felt badly, talking of her brothers when Coraline had just lost someone she cared for. "Shall we go?"

Coraline wrung her hands awkwardly, fingers itching to tug on Lucy's dress and hold onto it like she was much younger then her eleven years of age. She missed Angie so much it was hard to stop worrying even though she knew there was nothing she could do about it.

"I've never seen a unicorn before, do you think they'll come to us?" Coraline asked curiously. She knew that they came to the innocent but Coraline had never felt very innocent, not that she was evil but her actions with the other mother and throwing the cat at her had always haunted her. "I wish I could see the lion and the unicorn."

"They should," she held a hand out to her friend for no reason other than the other girl looked as if she could use it. Her cheeks did colour, as she tried to think of how to explain it to Coraline. "They like people who are like us."
