Hello everyone! After lurking around for almost two years, I finally post for the first time. I love Young Avengers. Usually I will only like one or two characters in a story, but somehow the kids from YA appeals to me. I fell in love with ALL of them! They are a group of naive, odd, young kids who acts like their age and they are very lovable ( Read more... )

Hi!
I'm with you: all the YA members are very interesting. Thinking about them as single characters comes pretty difficult to me - they're not just a team: they're a family. ♥

I love character studies!
Teddy is my favourite, as well. And I agree with you: he is the most insecure member of the group and discovering the truth about his origin must not have been easy. But I think he's grown up a lot lately. Billy has really helped him becoming more sure of himself and of who he is - and vice versa. That's probably what I like the most about their relationship :)

I love the conversation they have in issue #12m where Teddy insists he wants to help the skrulls, because they are 'his' people. He wants to belong somewhere THAT badly. And Billy saying that the skrulls are not his people and they are not even people. He has no confusion at all and firmly tells his views to Teddy. I think that shows us the dynamic between them beautifully.

After all of the skrull-kree-human war, I think we see Teddy starting to grow up.

We have to credit Alan, for being a very good writer. He writes these characters so well and every one of them have their own voice. I just wish he writes faster. Bimonthly schedule kills meee. It's too painful.

I was baffled when I first read YA, because I couldn't find someone to hate. Cassie, maybe, but only for a while (because of her instant romance with Nate).

I agree: issue #12 is a great read - there's more than it meets the eye in there. And I absolutely loved Teddy's goodbye to his mother - it was a very meaningful and touching scene.
Heinberg is an amazing writer, without doubt my favourite in the comic industry at the moment. He can really bring the characters to life in just a few lines of dialogue!
I'm saddened by the fact he's not (and probably will never be) a monthly guy, but I understand why he can't commit to comics full-time. Plus, he's devoted to his work and really love his characters, and I think this shows in his writing. I'd gladly wait years for things like Crusade #1! But yeah... the waiting is pretty frustrating :(

I actually think that in order to really enjoy a series you pretty much NEED to hate something about it. XD

I have conflicting feelings towards Cassie. I LOVE her as a character (as in her role within the group and her interactions with the other YA) but... I don't really care for her as a person. I find her somehow childish, and egocentric ^^; I ( ... )

Hooray for posting! I don't do it enough myself.

I really like how you worded that. The way Teddy likes Billy because he's someone who knows what he wants and who he is. It's a very succinct way to say it, and I'd definitely agree!

I'm so torn between Billy or Teddy being my favorite, but I think I may lean slightly towards Billy. It's so hard to choose!

Billy with his nervous air and ironic words... I quiet like him too.

I'm torn between Eli and Teddy, while Billy and Tommy have a special place in my heart. I would love to see a fic about the twins/ Tommy doesn't have a lot of screen time, so it is hard to put a finger on him. He's not as nice as I initially thought, but I think he has a certain naive quality, which I found adorable ("Prisoners don't make out with each other,,,,do they?). Kate is also nice, gah, all of them are nice. And all of them are PRETTY. It's not fair...

Haha, it's true. I too have a soft spot for Tommy. I'd like to see more done with his character, which is part of the reason I'm just so excited for Children's Crusade!

And I adore Kate (SO AWESOME) and Eli (YESSSS). And the dynamics between Eli, Kate, and Tommy. And Vision is such a sweet guy. The only one that ever bothers me is...Cassie. She flip flops around guys so much and I feel so bad for poor Vision. She's gonna have to redeem herself epically for me to really like her, I think. But the awesome of the team itself is too good too pass up.
