Is it becoming popular among inmates to disparage wardens' private lives? I ask only for curiosity.

I wonder if we don't keep them busy enough myself. Though you... Data isn't it? You're from one of those future places yes?

One of them, yes.

Is there something wrong with same gender romantic relationships?

My religion says there is. My cultural upbringing suggests it's a problem sometimes but not inherently wrong. My heart says it's not.

Why does having a private life automatically seem to indicate sex?

I find tea and lot of talking to go a long way to easing the pangs of loneliness.

There's no need to apologize. Life intercedes.

Thank you for being gracious. I will be going off the Barge soon for an extended time. Would you like to have full charge of the gardens while I'm gone?

I can certainly do that, Mister St Just.

Again, very gracious, Mme Owens.

I can bring the keys by before I leave, and pass on the instructions for the care of the wizard plants in the greenhouse.

This is one less worry on my mind.

Not mine, but you're welcome to put itching powder into Vidal's food. Yes, I know that is mixing pranks, but believe me, I'd love him to have an itch on the inside that he can't scratch.

But yes, Marigold will need watching because I may be gone a long while.

It's complicated, but it should all be clearer in a day or two.

I'll make proper farewells then, but I promise I'll be back.

Sometimes I'm led to believe they simply like to disparage everyone's, and that it's only their need to commiserate that prevents them from doing so. I wouldn't go so far as to say such a habit is limited only to inmates, however, or that it's common to every inmate. What brings this on?

This was prompted by an unfortunate encounter then conversation with Captain Vidal.

That man again... was this the reason for his treatment of the C- of Jack?

Yes, at least partially.

Jack makes no secrets of his preferences. In some places, that puts him in danger.
