I think it's because we've had so many pets die over the years. We live in the country so our cats we have outside have lots of kittens and sometimes just don't come back home. I've been told stories about my great-grandmother seeing things too, so that might have something to do with it to.
I've heard only one door shut before when I was the only one in the house, but I've heard breathing and something say my name. ( a branch a TAPS we saw at a con said it might be a doppleganger) I've seen a ghost cat twice. (I know that sounds silly too ;;;) and my dad and sister have experienced a couple of things too.
Yikes that sounds eerie indeed. Yeah I get you about the cats issue - I have the same thing happening to mine all the time. But hearing your name...yeah. So not cool =/ Do you know of GhostPlace.com? I used to be really into that kind of stuff and that place is cool to relate your experiences and ask for people's opinions.
