Nice! I think you got it right-- that Ichigo's strong, but brittle at the same time, 'like a badly tempered blade'... he's had to tap into unorthodox power-ups to beat all the bad guys and it's made him unstable.
--and where Ichigo is right now, listening to everyone panicking and dying without being able to help-- I'm thinking we'll be seeing Shiro soon enough! ^__^
Ichigo definitely = unstable. I don't think he realizes how badly, as of yet. I mean, except for a few...slip ups, he's managed to retain control. Even though Shirosaki keeps telling him that his time will come.
I'm a bit divided on this piece. On one hand, I love the moral ambiguity. Shirosaki positions himself like some possessive spirit that's has no doubts that he's evil and crazy. The way he describes his relationship with Ichigo is almost romantic - everything's about "he" and "him". When Shirosaki talks about Ichigo's shinigami friends, he almost sounds like a jealous lover.
The language put me off. I can understand that you're trying to imitate a certain tone or give the 'voice' a certain edge. I just thought it would've been stronger if your whole story were a monologue (or even a dialogue, which beg the question of who Shirosaki was addressing).
In a sense, I suppose Shirosaki would have an odd romantic attachment to Ichigo. Even though they are two sides of one coin and all, Shirosaki does seem to think and act independently. How much of that is simply Ichigo's dark impulses over-riding his good sense, I don't know. Shirosaki seems possessive of Ichigo because Ichigo is also possessive (look at everything he's done over the years and tell me he's not possessive of his friends in one respect or the other).
The language was tough to work with. I was trying to pick up his dialect, but not sure how effective it was.
It's chilly to read this. Shiro's saying Ichigo should just accept his dark side and to stop ignoring everything that's not shinigami conventional- and then talks about blood painting. It's awesome to see him unaware of his own malicious nature.
