She looks back, startled, one leg still over the window. Her expression flits from shock, to annoyance to resentment, till it very definitely comes to rest on ‘who the fuck do you think you are.'
She slowly slides her leg back, turning to face him, hands over chest, mirroring his pose, “are you stalking me?”
He shrugs, because duh, “I prefer the term

is totally something Damon said in a fic of mine once. And I love that--I love that he says some of the same things in your head that he says in mine.

Hahaha, it does come cross as that occasionally, doesn't it? Like some times when you just think 'God, that's so OOC, Damon would never say that'. I just want them to be realize that you can be angst-ridden and funny at the same time, one has to be conveyed through expressions and the other through dialogues!
(God, the 'no editing option' thing sucks so much D:)

The tension between Damon and Elena in this is fantastic, and I love that he's addressing the elephant in the room and telling her the truth about how a choice between her and Stefan would end.

Thank you so much! I think the only way he can address it is by being flippant about it, although the 'he'd choose Stefan' is totally my personal desire, haha (STEFAN CHOSE HIM, HE SHOULD CHOSE STEFAN).

Shove it in some corner of his mind, push it down to the back of his throat, add it to all the things they never talk about, let it fill the air a little more. It’s so very heavy already, their air.
This is such an elegant and precise summary of their unique interaction.
She knows he loves her, he’s told her too many times now, whether she remembers them or not, but he hopes to god she never realizes how. Much. How much.
Beautiful insight. I often forget that we (the viewers/readers) see Damon much more clearly than she does. This helps me see Elena's POV (being an inexperienced but mature beyond her years 17 year old). Thanks.
He'll stay, because she said it this time and he doesn't have to make up an excuse for why.
Perfect closing. It's lovely to see Elena just beginning to open up to herself.

I honestly think the show should capitalize more on Ian’s fabulous repertoire of expressions and show his feelings and emotions like they did in the first season instead of making him tell them to Andie or Jessica or anyone. I loved the subtlety of first season Damon/Elena where no one was exactly sure what they felt for each other and Damon always covered his feelings through some snarky remark meant to deflect attention, and Stefan was the only one who noticed. That dynamic was wonderful D:
I know, we have a better grasp on Damon than she does, because we’re influenced by things like his love confession in Rose and the tenderness he displayed with Katherine when he thought she was Elena in Founder’s Day. It’s sad that Elena herself never got to experience those moments so all she really knows him as is the unstable guy who can do anything at any time. I hope that changes in S3! Thanks so much :)

Good point about the writers having Damon saying his feelings more in season 2 rather than the subtlety, double entendres, and subtext from the first season. Hopefully they'll return to that in the new season, now that the show is over the mythology hump (as Ian calls it).
The majority of Elena's experience with Damon this season was conflict and tension (like only 2 'type A' personalities can achieve). I garner great hope from the fact that she still sees the potential in Damon to be the better man, despite all the aforementioned conflict and tension.
I'm rather anxious to see what goes on in Season 3 ... isn't it September yet??
