I just realized it's been forever since I made a proper videogame post, so I figured it was time to talk about what I've played recently, what I'm playing now and what I'm looking forward to playing in the future.
Wheee, haha. It cracked me up when I read who Mao's VA is for the English version... it's Junpei from P3! Who is apparently Edward Elric from FMA, crazy, huh?
Yeah, I could totally tell; it's clear from his "wacky" voice that it's that guy. XD
(Though for someone who always acts mildly shocked and horrified at conventions at the idea of slash involving his characters, he seems to like to take roles that involve lots of subtext...Mao's always drooling over Almaz for some reason or other. XD)
I must admit I hate the fact that the DS version of FF4 doesn't give you the opportunity the freely choose your party ala the GBA version. It's understandable given the voice acting and cutscenes, but IMO there's no reason why the other characters can't join you in the final battle (even in the original SFC version).
Yes, I totally have the same peeve (though I forgot to mention it above)...I mean, okay, maybe Edward's still recovering or something, and obviously Tellah's bit the dust, but most of the others are in perfect health.
(And I can't imagine it'd be THAT difficult to incorporate them as far as voice acting goes, or cutscenes, since at least in the original there wasn't a whole lot of dialogue before the final battle, aside from the one line everybody else gives. Maybe they've elaborated a lot on that for the DS version, though.)
They may have felt it wasn't as necessary, though, since you get most/all of those characters' abilities as augments? So for example, even though you can't use Palom and Porom in the final battle, you can still use Twincast? (And I do like the fact that you can give various different characters Twincast and get different results.) It would have been nice for story purposes, though.
I dunno, as long as they keep rereleasing it, I'll probably keep buying it, just because I love that game with the fire of a thousand suns. (And also because it'll be nice to have the PSX extras - assuming they're included - without the crappy load times.)

Nice one! If I could write like this I would be well chuffed. The more I read articles of such quality as this (which is rare), the more I think there might be a future for the Net. Keep it up, as it were.
