Welp, today was kind of a wash academically. For my Romantic Lit class this morning, we had to read Northanger Abbey, Blue-Beard (a Gothic play), both versions of Coleridge's "Rime of the Ancient Mariner", and Coleridge's "Christabel". I got through all of it but Christabel, because I ran out of time and I'd read it and "Mariner" before (I wanted ( Read more... )

XD Hey, I love literary slash too! You won't believe how many times we went through totally inane books and managed to slash everyone and anyone together. I still love my Virgil x Dante <3 and Nick x Gatsby (I think that's the name of the main character...) We also made an LJ for just writing IC journal entries of any literary character. Quite amusing. You must tell me more about your subtext readings.

The Gamefaqs board is like the IMDB board - whenever you feel like losing all faith in humanity, just read a few entries. Along with AOL, they can depress the most optimistic peppy person on the planet.

Thank you for the Nightmare City link! Wow, that is gorgeous. I love how it reminds me of the Kitty x Bunny OTP flash vids. Totally stealing ^_^.

Well, let's see - there's the Iliad (which is actually canon) and the Odyssey, of course; there's bits in Chaucer and quite a bit in the Arthurian romances; but the Victorians are by far the best at it. Just about anything by Dickens lends itself to this (Nicholas Nickleby/Smike = OTP!!!1!); I swear that the femslash in Wilkie Collins' The Woman in White is practically canon (and also kinda incestuous, since they're half-sisters); Wuthering Heights has got some; etc.

Remember. Any appointment by Bush automatically ranks an 11 on the suck-o-meter. I'm not surprised. Remember, the Bushies think that only faith in JEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEZUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUS! can help you.
