Whatever

I've been talking a to a collegue at work lately about stuffs. Turns out he's a bit of an art buff too who went on hiatus for 8 years and only got back into the swing of things a year ago. I asked him for some inspiration on things to draw, since I figured he'd have some fresh ideas ( Read more... )

I'd agree with that in part, but people have evolved a *little* beyond the point where we simply exist to progagate the species. I think saying marriage and having children being the final markers of maturity is not only short sided, but also juvenile itself. Problems rarely, if ever have a single cause. I do know that the idea of going out, getting a job and looking after myself make me if nervous, if not terrified. But, with the way employment is these days you need all the qualifications you can get. ^^;

Oh yeah, absolutely. I reject the notion that getting a job or moving out makes you mature by default. It is possible to have it all and still be a baby inside. However, in general, I'd reckon it is a good yardstick in measuring how people are doing in terms of personal progression.

I'd say that's a fair generalisation, but not the only reason why people are still at home. Rising house prices and rent, at least around here, is also what is driving people to stay at home - though i'm not sure what the bigger factor is.

I confess I will probably be well into my 20s before i spread the proverbial wings - at least once i've got full time work under my belt.

You could list things until you're blue in the face as to why people do or don't do things. Of course I wouldn't say that moving out instantly makes you a man, so to speak, but I would support the idea that it's a good indication of how far along people are in their lives. Generally speaking, of course.

I think you probably wouldn't have too many problems if you decided to move out. It's always a nice experience to house sit when everyone else who usually lives with you is away for an extended period of time. :]

I've really got to get back into doing arty things. I have a 5"x4" Wacom tablet, and I should really teach myself to use it better. I use it for the bit of Photoshopping I do, which tends to be making icons, and I don't even do that very much. Mostly lacking in creativity and inspiration. But if I try and be disciplined with myself and do something every day or every week, hopefully I'll get back into it. So yeah, thanks for that link, I'll poke about a bit :)

Hahahah. Yar, I've found that Guild Wars really does rob you of time that you could probably otherwise be spending on art stuffs. :P

Yeah, inspiration is one of those things I'm always running dry on. But I find that it's really gratifying to actually draw something from beginning to end and to be able to look back on in and reflect on your achievement.
I hope you find something that takes your fancy, Emma. It can be really fun and rewarding. :D

When I was a Toys R Us kid, I didn't have any money to get anything good. Now that I have money, they've closed their shop and moved further away. :(

If i can't break the cycle over my own life, I may as well perpetuate it in others in spite. hahahAHhAHAHHAHAHA

Or you could become a researcher and become a PhD in... I dunno, sushi. ...Or something. :P

But seriously, unexplored territory is always a little intimidating at first. Though if you take a couple steps forward and lift the fog, you might find that it's not as bad as your imagination might have you believe. :D
