I will have a complete(ish) Olympic wrapup some time this week, but I wanted to do this separately because I think it’s important it not get lost in a larger piece and it is about more than merely this Olympic Games.

There are largely two ways medal counts are done by the international sports press. I don’t like either of them.

You could use the html table tags to set up the tables if you really want these to look like tables. It's pretty simple in all honesty. Head over to http://www.pageresource.com/html/table1.htm for an example. You'll probably want to set the border="0"
