Well, I want to thank you guys for the outpouring of (admittedly fished for, haha) good wishes when I posted about joining Weight Watchers. Yesterday was my 2nd meeting and my official weigh-in has me down 3.2 pounds in 1 week. Not bad! The first week wasn't nearly so difficult as thought it might be and that's very good. Even though it ( Read more... )

Rock on! That's awesome! The sensible portion size thing really does make you think - especially with things like cereal and pasta.

The exercising part is easier than you think - it mostly required an attitude adjustment. I know that you guys like to go to festivals and parades and things - walking around at those things count as activity. The trick is not eating funnel cake while you're there (which I think is 24 points for the whole thing) :-P.

The portion size with cereal & pasta is a crazy and sad thing. Also in my case, with rice. My idea of a normal serving of white rice is actually like 3x than what is normal--damn my Puerto Rican upbringing on this point :P.

Congratulations!

Exercise... screw the gym membership. Invest in some home exercise equipment instead. It's harder to talk yourself out of exercising if it's RIGHT THERE! If you want some video recommendations, let me know.

We have a REALLY good program for Playstation of all things, I've done it before but have gotten out of the habit. Must start again. I also have things on dvd (yoga, pilates, bellydancing) and video--have to ask fings to hook up the VCR at some point, though. Thanks!
