Tomorrow is the First Annual Chili Cookoff/Chili Wars, meaning each webteam member will bring in a pot of chili, eat a bit of everything, and vote on the best. That's it. Those are the rules. Is anyone bringing beverages? Will anyone bring bowls? No idea. But I was volun-told to make a trophy, and this is was happened:
During our excursion last Saturday, Mom found a fiesta-inspired drink cozy that she envisioned as Darth's poncho. It was too long for the bobble head, so while I was at work, Mom saved the fringe, shorted the fabric, broke out the sewing machine, and sewed it all back together. Plus she added the yarn so that the poncho cinched around his neck.
That's the first amazing thing she did. Read on.
I painted the base (which was originally a wood... box... thing) and wrapped it in black sparkly paper. It looked good, but then Mom found the sombrero. (That's the second amazing thing, by the way. She had it in a closet somewhere. I don't know why.)
Anyway, since I have tried several vegetarian chili recipes and not liked any of them, I told the gang I'd bring cornbread instead of actual chili. (The Troll later asked, "Who eats cornbread with their chili?" to which I replied, scandalized, "Who doesn't?")
When I arrived home today, Mom had already made three pans of cornbread muffins. After purchasing the ingredients! After taking Dad to a doctor's appointment!
I am still in awe. Plus the muffins are seriously good.
