I didn't read all the way yet but you didn't read LOTR??? Oh the books are so much better than the movies! My fav is still the Hobbit and still no movie :)
Nope, never read any of them. I was more into horror and sci fi than fantasy as a kid, and by the time I knew of them, I was in college. A couple of rabid fans tried cramming them down my throat (OMG SO GOOD HOW CAN YOU NOT HAVE READ THEM?! Ok, what are they about? THEY'RE EPIC FANTASY NOVELS SO HUGE AND LONG HOW COULD YOU NOT HAVE READ THEM OMG YOU HAVE TO READ THEM NOW!), and then the hype from the movies started and turned the rabid fans into even more violently rabid fans, and now I refuse to read them on bloody principle. There's no way they're THAT good. And all the enjoyment I might have gotten from them has been sucked away before I could ever crack the spine.
its so true though. But seriously the Hobbit is pretty darn good stuff. Language can be a bit rough here and there with Tolkien but I finally got around to reading them all a few years ago after the hype died down.
Was always into mysteries myself, and Stephen King novels. And sci Fi - Finally read all the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy books last year or so - awesome!
Language doesn't bother me. I love James Joyce. I just never had any real interest in reading Tolkien. I read the Narnia Chronicles when the new movie came out. I dunno. Maybe Tolkien just didn't have enough talking animals for me.
