First of all: I am doing i_reversebang this year (just as an artist, not an author - this time around, anyway)! There is still plenty of time to sign up if you have not already! I'm looking forward to this tremendously.
DICKIE!!! Look at him! That's HIM! He does not exist in real life, only in our imaginations, but you have somehow portrayed him perfectly on paper. He is Arthur's twin, but he is also his own person. And you have captured his ESSENCE!! His mouth and his eyebrows guh! And Arthur's feet. And I love the random little details like Arthur's shoe and the keys hanging off of Dickie's carabiner. What magic do those keys unlock?! And the wooden boards in the different washed out colors yes!! Um, do they warn you against using too much purple in art school??
They do not warn against too much purple specifically but it's bad to lean too heavily on one color palette and not be versatile! (And I did have one teacher who didn't like the purple and used to chastise me for it constantly). Dickie's keys unlock a world of Sexytimes.
Ooooh, so pretty. Richard's tie just pops beautifully. Even though Arthur's in the shirtsleeves and waistcoat, somehow the bare feet makes him seem more casual. The expressions make this seem almost bittersweet, like maybe they're glad they're hanging out together and reminiscing on their shared boyhood (hence the tree climbing, because I can see him doing it on a dare), but it's because someone in the family got sick.
...Don't mind me. I constantly write fanfic. lol
My guess for that acrylic splooge is either where that sharper blue is in the backgrou.nd behind the trees or up front under the wooden planks, since the colors in them change slightly
The acrylic splooge was in neither of those places, incidentally! It's in the bottom right corner. I had to repaint those stupid flowers auuugh. Thank you for the comment! :D
I love how Dickie (um, Richard? Dickerd? Dickhard?)'s tie stands out. That use of color & the way it draws the eye to him says so much about his personality, even though Arthur is probably the one who bought him the tie. Or maybe not. IDK THERE'S PROBABLY A WHOLE STORY BEHIND IT. And I can't get over his fucking shoes. The style and the color. Dickie's posture is so relaxed and sexy but he also looks like he might be waiting for something, ready to spring into action; just a little bit antsy. Also, FOREARMS. Grrrrrrr.
And then there's Arthur, just sitting in the tree all impatient-like. Did Dickie trick him into getting into the tree? Did Dickie promise to take his picture/climb the tree with him but is instead sitting on a picnic bench delighting in his ability to make Arthur fulfill his every whim? Is Eames taking their photo? The tree looks really cool too. And the salting! Awesome! The background looks so haunting.
It's like some kind of weird cognitive dissonance trying to figure out how to refer to him because it changes depending on the narrative. "Richard" is like nice and neutral. Or something. He's ready for trouble. He's ALWAYS ready for trouble. Trouble is his middle name. And Danger is Arthur's.
