What's creepy is that I have a math genius friend. Who hangs out with me in my Latin class. XD I find it hilarious. (He also comments on how hilarious he finds it that I can explain and understand a complex Latin translation, but when we start getting 'dumbed down' questions I look annoyed by it. Ah, friendship.) I find it amusing when he starts explaining his math homework to me and I do not follow one bit of it. I AM AN ARTS STUDENT. WHAT IS THIS MATH YOU SPEAK OF?

And sometimes friends can be a tad...odd, to be polite. ^^' Awesome. But odd.

In my experience, having friends with contrasting interests to yours is healthy. XD

Oh no, I completely agree, it's just when they go all batshit on you it can be pretty hilarious/odd/awesome. XD Although when they go to that pretentious level that's when it takes away from actual friendship and there isn't really any charm to it at all.

Absolutely. XD My boyfriend's a history nut, I am not, and often times I just say "OK HONEY LET'S MOVE ON NOW :D". XD

(LJ is wonky, so this may have posted twice...)

INORITE. I know I'm not in the same environment as you, but I understand.
I've made a point not to befriend pretentious people. Can't stand 'em. I love IB, but at my school it's attracted some people who are just *begging* to get a firm punch in the jaw. I guess tensions are high because of approaching exams, but we're all acting like we've regressed to the 7th grade in terms of attitude.

In my experience, it's the insecure ones that try to correct/devalue others, not the actual smart people.

Oh, no, she's confessed that the only reason she corrects others is because she knows she's the least intelligent one of our group- it's a major insecurity of hers and it's why we more or less put up with it. It just gets REALLY annoying because, well, we respect her intelligence more than she does. We just want to go, 'Honey, you're smart, and you're smart WITHOUT obnoxiously correcting us'.

This occurred in IB ALL THE TIME. Basically anywhere you gather 'smart' people, you get those who go the extra mile in egoism. XD It's dellliightful.
