Concerning certain recent issues

OK, here's the thing guys.

Certain things about moderating this meme make me uncomfortable. So far I've gotten by, and most of you are lovely, but it's gotten to a point on one particular issue where either this needs to stop happening or I don't think I'm going to be able to continue and keep my state of mind OK. Because it's seriously starting to ( Read more... )

Sorry you have to deal with all of these prompt about yadayada this about Megan and yadayada that about KF. I'm sure that can't be fun. I'm neutral thank you and pretty much ignore it. But hell do those people get aggravated. Please guys remember its a tv show and the characters are FICTIONAL.

Good luck with this and for the sake of your sanity and happiness I hope that people will take your warning seriously.

I know this is non-negotiable, but I think it would be fairer to ban ALL prompts relating to the subject of Megan and Wally and flirting (whether Wally has or has not gone too far, whether Megan should or should not be clearer, etc.). It's probably a bit extreme, but I'm guessing there are also people who are probably uncomfortable with prompts implying that Wally is/is close to being a rapist with his interactions with Megan (or would be uncomfortable with future prompts like this).

After all, it is a little egocentric of us to not consider that people can indeed have differing views on this matter. As an individual, I realize that you have your view of things, which you shared in this post, but as a mod, I think you have to take both sides of the debate into consideration. Don't get me wrong - I think you've been trying to be as fair-minded a possible. I just think it would be fairer to ban all prompts related to the matter.

Any casual throwing around of rape accusations, if brought to my attention, will definitely be frozen. Not so much just the character bashing (that's definitely a factor), but also just because that kind of thing is a big deal to be slinging around, yes.

I do not have to, actually. I run a privately moderated community. There is no rule book I was handed. And yes, I am choosing to use my own personal opinions on this matter and yes, to be frank, I consider opposing ones wrong (and fairly offensive, both in terms of personal experience and on a more objective level). If this bothers anybody, despite the fact this has always been a rule ('don't be offensive'), people don't have to stick around.

Of course there is no rule book. Maybe 'have to' is a bit strong in that regard. But optimally (and IMO), a mod should do that, even if things get frustrating... I also thought there have been fairly 'offensive' prompts on both sides, which is why I would have preferred what I suggested above, rather than singling out something.

So, with that said, I just want to emphasize that I know it is non-negotiable. Hopefully, you won't take affront to anything I said - I don't think anyone is wrong. Just offering some constructive criticism, which no one has to take.

No, no, no offense taken, of course not! And yes, if there's a problematic prompt on the other side I will be freezing them. This was just Megan centric because thus far there have been so many more (brought to my attention) aimed around her than around Wally.

tbh i think all of this wouldn't have happened if new_justice still had episode discussion posts.

It does. It's not uncommon for discussion to take place during AND after the episode, people just aren't using them for discussion after the episode as much lately. If you think that would help, then once new episodes start airing, feel free to post discussion topics on the entry itself. Or, I don't see why we, as a community can't look into having a separate entry specifically for post-episode discussions. Really though, I don't think the recent problems come from a lack of episode discussion.

Are you a member of the comm? The people making the ep discussion posts have been locking them lately.
