Prompt Post - Part Ten

Mar 11, 2012 17:03

I am REALLY, REALLY SORRY about taking so long, guys, and about not being around much recently. I've been busier than I have in a while, and it just kept slipping my mind between uni applications and volunteering and all sorts- for some reason I thought we were much further off a new post.

If there is anything I haven't responded to, as of now, I'm ( Read more... )

So...

Ra's and Talia use the developments at the end of US to get that heir Ra's so desperately wants. Repercussions?

(Note: if you want extra angst, Talia may not be aware of why her beloved is suddenly much more receptive to her advances...)

It's late march in Gotham, and Talia is sitting, quietly, in the office she knows her beloved will infiltrate in order to find out who is supplying Joker with a new toxin recipe and the equipment and ingredients neeeded to make it. He's been running rampage with new, slower-acting, deadlier toxin the past few weeks, and Robin's probably feeling a bit light-headed right now. Talia smiles slightly when he opens the door almost silently, and she taps on the keyboard before her to make the screen turn black ( ... )

When Clark Kent gets the message (Meet me at the usual cafe during your lunch break.) and Perry gives him an early lunch ("Orders from the top, Wayne was very insistent."), he knows Batman found something important. He finds a paler-than-usual Bruce Wayne sitting at their normal table; and though he's known Bruce for less than a decade, he can tell immediately that something is horribly wrong.

"What is it?" he asks, sitting down. Bruce glances up at him, then resumes staring at the table.

"I found out something important," he says, after clearing his throat. "About New Year's Eve."

"You found out where we were?" Clark leans forward, dropping his voice.

"Sort of. I found out where I was."

"Let me guess, kidnapped by CADMUS? I knew they'd be trying to clone all of us, there's no way it'd be just me." Clark pauses to take a breath and Bruce interrupts him ( ... )

Dick Grayson is watching TV on Sunday afternoon, bored. Bruce is still in bed, asleep, and there's nothing except for a British Jerry Springer ripoff on. He lies on the sofa, trying to understand what's supposed to be happening.

"You," the presenter shouts at a man with really gross teeth, "are a disgrace! You 'ave a one-night stand wiv a woman when yer drunk an' get 'er pregnant, an' now yer refusin' to look after yer own child! That is just plain disgusting, ladies an' gents! Every member of this audience is sittin' 'ere, agreein' wiv me ( ... )

LMAO I was just going to ask, this isn't Jeremy Kyle is it? Man that show is appalling (but funny too)

Loving this so far, poor Bruce. He's completely shellshocked and I don't blame him.

I was going to do Loose Women, but nothing will ever make me watch that show. Ever. At least Jezza Kyle is almost socially acceptable :P

And I'm glad you like what I've done so far, I'll try to keep a decent quality going :S

I'm glad you like! I only stopped there because in my country it was 11pm, the clocks were going forward an hour and I had some important things to next morning. I'll write some more a little later, don't worry :)

It's been three days, eleven hours and thirty-six minutes since he found out what happened on New Year's Eve. He's been spending his spare time hacking Metropolis security footage and trying to extrapolate data from his trackers and the zeta and boom tubes ( ... )

A/N If this and the previous come out strangely, it's because I'm using my blackberry to update these parts.

Superman is with Wonder Woman on the Watchtower. They're looking over security footage related to the younger team's current mission. At least, Wonder Woman is. Superman is trying not to think about what Bruce found out and what that might mean for the rest of the League. If Bruce had really... done the dirty with one of his enemies, what had the other missing Leaguers done? And why make Bruce do that , anyway? The Light wouldn't gain anything, would they? Aside from upsetting the Batman, which was suicidal by anybody's standards ( ... )

It's surprising how quickly Batman gets over the shock. He all but throws a handful of cables and technological clippy things in Clark's face.

"Hold these," Batman growls, before stabbing at buttons on a little handheld device attached to even more wires.

"Well?" Clark prompts, after a few minutes of silence. Bruce hesitates.

"Yes. You're right," he admits.

"And?" Clark tries to prompt him again.

"And what? Why didn't I tell you? What am I going to do now? When am I going to tell everybody? Clark, I didn't want anybody to know." Clark opens his mouth to talk, and Bruce continues, having already deduced what he's about to say. "I only told you as much as I did because I had to tell someone, and you're one of the few people I trust. I just needed someone to listen to me."

"What about Robin? Does he know?" Clark presses.

"He's thirteen!" Batman grits his teeth in frustration, and whirls to face Superman. "I'm not that screwed up ( ... )

That's interesting, that Clark put it all together just like that. Especially since his mind isn't really wired to think that way.

But then again, there really seems to be no other reason.

Loving this so far!

...Let's just say that this Superman is more of a bro/detective/smart guy than the DC universe we're more familiar with :S

I'm glad you like this so far! It's not often I see a prompt and just go "Whoa" and write like there is no tomorrow, so it's really encouraging that everybody's reactions have been so positive so far :)

He visits Talia the first chance he gets. She, for once, does not expect him.

"I want my son," he says, from behind her. She jumps, startled, in the shadows of the abandoned fairground. Too much blood had been spilt here, one of Ra's Lazarus Pits lurking deep beneath the grassy clearing.

"What?"

"I want my son. When he's born. I don't trust you."

Talia's dark eyes flash with anger.

"I'm his mother," she hisses. "And you trusted me enough to concieve him, you bastard"No," he corrects, trying to seem as impassive as ever. His hands shake oh-so-slightly, so he crosses his arms. "I didn't ( ... )

So, here's what I don't get... in the last installment, Bruce said it wasn't his son... what's made him change his mind? Is it just that he doesn't think it's his kid, but he won't allow Ra's to have it either?

And, would it be terrible of me to say that he's being an absolute asshole to Talia?

I mean, yeah, sucks. But she clearly didn't know what was going on--she's been as violated as he has, and she's the kid's fucking mother...

Gah.

Off feminist high horse now.

Thanks for the lovely update.
