[Inspired by Earlier] Damian and Dick anonymous February 9 2012, 00:19:39 UTC
I want Damian and Dick being brothers... like in real life. They were both born of John and Mary Grayson. And they were both taken in by Bruce Wayne. (Which Damian accepts more, hence Damian Wayne, while Dick remains Dick Grayson)

I think older!Damian would be good for this. Because Damian's cold, anti-social, angry personality could come from a tragedy such as that. And while Dick remains resilient and upbeat, he's much more moody.

I think it makes sense at least. If he's the older, he has to carry the responsibility and the guilt more than Dick does.

Just... an anecdote or two about how they grew up together, and some of the stuff they've been through.

Bonus1 Damian fights crime too. (as... someone)

Bonus2 :3 Colin Wilkes is Damian's Wally West. The two birds compare their redheads. :3

Would OP mind terribly if Damian remained a Grayson in name?

Cause I sort of have an idea for a fill to run with, but he needs to stay Grayson for it.

oops that was meant to be ANON.

He’s thirteen. It’s not his first time in Gotham or working in front of a sold-out crowd, but he can feel the energy, even back here. His mother, father, aunt, uncle and cousin are all waiting at the ring doors for their turn. When the lights go out, they have only a few moments to exit and haul ass to the platform while the riggers raise the safety nets. And, unfortunately, his little brother seems to have decided that now is the perfect time to space out.

“Come on, Dick,” he says, shaking his shoulder. He smiles a little bit at the way his brother nearly jumps out of his skin in surprise.
“Don’t do that, Damian!” Dick complains, puffing out his cheeks like an angry chipmunk and earning a chuckle from their sixteen-year-old cousin, John.

“I’m your brother, it’s my job to annoy you,” Damian deadpans. “What’s got you so interested anyway ( ... )

Right then, the house lights go down and all familial conversation stops. From here on out, it’s business as usual for the Flying Graysons. They’re the ones everyone’s come to see and they give them the show they’ve been waiting for. Everyone hits their spots with precision. It’s all perfect. All that’s left is the finale ( ... )

Damian wakes with a start, his heart still thundering in his ears. He turns his head to look at the clock and then turns back, groaning as he drags a hand over his face. It’s only a little after three in the morning and he knows he won’t be able to get back to sleep, not after dreaming about the events of that night.

That night, he and his brother lost everything.

He sighs. It’s as good a time as any to get a start on his day.
Propping himself up first on his elbows, Damian then lifts himself with his arms into a sitting position. He lifts one leg up with his hands and moves it so that it rests over the other. Then, using his arms to lift himself up, he slowly begins the process of transferring himself from his bed to the wheelchair. He lifts his legs one at a time, carefully lowering them until his feet rested securely on the foot pedals, and then leans back, his hands on the wheels. There was a time he’d have complained about all this, but he’s learned to put up with a lot since that night and, honestly, he’s more than a ( ... )

Once on the first floor, Damian turns the chair and makes his way towards the kitchens. It’s a bit far, but he’s gotten used to it. The chair glides soundlessly across the floor and he resists the urge to push it faster: Alfred would probably murder him if he found tire marks on the marble.

And then he hears something from the library. It almost sounds like hushed voices, but it can’t be. No one’s up at this hour, not normally, and there’s no TV in there. The doors are slightly ajar, allowing a narrow splash of light to cut across the darkened hallway.

Damian slows down, stopping just outside the doors. Dick and Bruce are inside, near the clock.

“…Not ready. I’m sorry,” Bruce says.

Damian can’t hear what his brother says. It’s too soft, but he does recognize the whiny tone - Dick’s not getting his way.

“Zucco will pay,” Bruce hisses with a frightening fervor. “I promise ( ... )

This time he can hear Dick - he’s moved closer to the door. “I don’t know. I don’t want him to worry, but… it’ll help. Both of us, I mean. Though, I think he might be a bit jealous ( ... )

Okay, I was a bit iffy about this, but I kept reading my email notification anyways and I am so glad I did. This is awesome. I am eagerly anticipating the next part so I can see what Damian does. And how he'll react. And I'm guessing Bruce is already making the Cave wheelchair accessible. Again, this is great.

Quality writer-anon is quality and assures same, but slow. Hopefully, if I am conscious after work, I can add more today.

If one Grayson has found the cave, the other is sure to follow, in Bruce's paranoid logic.

Thanks for giving me a chance.

This is fantastically done. After all of the fluff-filled tiny!Batsibling stories, this is an interesting change of pace that I absolutely adore. The change in dynamic brought about by Damian being in a wheelchair and he and Dick being actual brothers seems to be making something a blend in story I haven't quite seen before. (Does this mean that Damian's going to become the male version of Oracle now or something?

'm definitely looking forward to more, so keep the awesomeness up!

Writer-anon thanks you. If there's fluff from me, it's a guarantee that it'll be nuanced and layered between complex feelings and situations. OP didn't specify how Damian had to fight crime, hehehe. Exact words writer anon is exacting. xD (Mayyyyyybe, though not as Oracle per se.)
