Megan's shifting practice. anonymous December 16 2011, 23:16:52 UTC
M'gann likes to practice her shifting forms from time to time. It's like any other skill and needs to be honed. She finds it easier to base her body forms on real life people rather than those she makes up herself and, with her telepathic skills, she finds it easy to pick up on images of people that others know around her.

One of these times she decides to concentrate her efforts on becoming a red haired woman that Robin is thinking about an awful lot at the moment.

tl;dr. M'gann morphs into Robin's mother without realising who she is

I literally gasped aloud when I read the tl;dr. Before then, I'd kind of figured it might be Barbara of something, but his MOM?...

I don't know if my heart could handle this one. ;_;

Heh, same here. Didn't know Dick's mom was a redhead. At first I thought this prompt would be all shippy until I bawled at the last line.

Re: Megan's shifting practice... possible fill? anonymous December 18 2011, 06:49:48 UTC
I, um, well, I'm working on something, but it will be very short (maybe? Robin finally shows up at around 730 words), and I have no idea on how to handle Robin's reaction. I'm getting an idea though...

So, maybe sometime this week? Wish me luck D:

And anyone else can take this prompt, I know I will not be able to do the whole idea justice.

ha ha, justice. I kill myself sometimes.

That's funny! 'Cause as soon as I read this prompt I just sat down and wrote a little something super angst-ridden. I couldn't really figure how to write the actual scenario, and instead just wrote out all of my ideas on the beautiful aaaangst that assaulted my brain.

Maybe I could post it as a point of reference for you? 8P

minifill, first fill, hope it doesn't suck anonymous December 18 2011, 23:51:04 UTC
Robin was happy with the way his life turned out. Things couldn't have been more astrous with him being a superhero and being part of a team to have kick-ass missions with. But today was one of those days when he couldn't just help reminiscing about his old life, back at the circus and his parents, how his mother would ruffle his hair and call him his little bird ( ... )

Not the previous two claimers. I'm interested to see what they do with it.

Been lurking around the meme for awhile, I fell in love with so many of the prompts and fills, but I haven't written any kind of fanfiction in ages so I was afraid I was rusty. Also not helping is that my DC knowledge is entirely limited to whatever was animated (and the occasional live-action movie); never read a single comic. (And yet, thanks to this meme, I'm in love with Jason and Damian. ^-^)

Glad you liked it! I'll try filling more in the future!

First claimer here

No one could find him for the rest of the day. No one knew where he was, not knowing that he was curled up in a ball, hoping no one would see him, his mask off, and sobbing until his blue eyes turned red.

"Mama..."

Oh God, I practically started to bawl here. Great job, writer!anon, I am loving the love that is being given to this prompt.

(Second claimer here!)

It was movie night at Mount Justice, and nearly the entire team, sans Robin, had gathered in the entertainment/kitchen area and were having fun watching M’gann put on a little show. Robin was running late for some reason, but that only gave M’gann an excuse to both practice her shape-shifting and show off a bit.

Of course, Robin wasn’t actually late. He was in the mountain, hiding and working up his nerve so he could go and hang out with his friends without being overly depressed. Mother’s day had been over for a whole two days and he was still having issues for some inexplicable reason. He couldn’t stop thinking about his mom, and even the happy memories made him feel like just sulking all day instead of being productive. If he didn’t kick this in the butt his grades might start to suffer, and who knows about his performance on the team? He couldn’t afford to slip up on a mission or patrol. There was no room for failure, everAfter a while, Robin looked at the containers of popcorn he had brought from the ( ... )

CRASH!

The bowl of popcorn Robin was holding crashed into the ground, glass breaking with a loud and jolting noise and drew all eyes and attention to the boy wonder.

Robin could only stare. He stood stock-still, unable to move or take action because of the violent, contradicting emotions and impulses roiling through his body. He couldn’t believe what he was seeing, but at the same time he knew what she was - not his mother, just a M’gann that looked like her.

His mother was standing right there. Her beautiful face and her loving eyes and her calloused yet soft hands, her comforting arms and warm chest, her powerful legs and strong gait -

The last time he had seen that face was when it had fear and agony frozen upon it, a face of death. Blood splattered everywhere and pooled underneath her, those same arms and legs broken and twisted and covered in blood. He could remember the sickening crack of her skull as it hit the unforgiving earth…

“Robin…?” she said, with a concerned and confused look on her face.

Her voice. It was her ( ... )
