Batman goes rogue. anonymous October 27 2011, 22:03:17 UTC
We know how Batman has all these contingency plans for how to take down the other members of the Justice League, owning kryptonite etc. Batman himself though is this big mystery.

What would happen if it was Batman who ended up going rogue? I know technically, he's only human against a whole slew of metas, but he has his mind and his plans and I can see him being a major threat.

Would he take Robin with him? Or, alternatively, would Robin be asked - as the guy who knows Batman the best - to take him down?

I'm willing to bet the universe that Batman has a contingency plan for himself, too. And I'm also willing to bet that it involves shielding Robin from his rogue self as much as possible. But obviously no one can take down the goddamn Batman, so it would be an good twist if Robin was brought on-board despite the plan to take Batman down.

This prompt is absolute win! Poor Robin will have to face the conflicting ideas of whether helping his father or helpin his friends stop him for the common good.

It's six days after Bruce is lost that Alfred finds him in the Batcave at half-past three. He's been up for nearly two days straight, hasn't talked to anyone, and has been obsessed with finding a way to undo this. A way to correct this terrible mistake and get his father back, but nothing's working. He can't think, can't eat, can't sleep, can't--

"Master Richard. I know what has been asked of you, but you cannot help them if you do not sleep. Come up to bed."

Dick looks over his shoulder at the grandfatherly figure whos hand has just found a home on his shoulder, and then back at the computer. Back at the footage playing on endless look. Bruce had taken them down so easily; an explosion or two to wipe out Kaldur and M'gann, binding Wally's feet and arms with lines that do not cut or disentegrate under speedster pressures with the same treatment for Artemis, and kryptonite laced Batarangs for Conner. Dick got the lightest of it: Bruce had only slammed him into a wall before vanishing into the shadows and leaving them all reeling. ( ... )
